Nunez over 17k is 0.60 goals from 0.57xG.

So he is overperforming his xG slightly?

Can’t be, he’s not a consistent finisher…

According to the wyscout data, but it isn't the best model.

He's likely an average finisher.

Nunez?
According to Understat, he is massively underperforming in the league for Liverpool. It doesn't have his data from Portugal, but I believe he 'overperformed' there.

In the EPL, he has 20 goals against an xG of 32. It is only from 3500 minutes, so about 40 full games' worth.

I guess then that brings in the added element of the unknown into it.

Significantly overperforming in a weaker league and significantly underperforming in a stronger one proves that he's an inconsistent finisher.

It's boring really. Would rather be sat here analysing how our number 9 fired us to big trophies by actually turning up in big games rather than excusing underperformance over 18 months. IMO, we need to get soomeone more reliable in that department because we have a decent chance of winning the CL next season (Madrid will be stronger but we might not even face them). Big trophies over excuses all day for me.

At risk of sounding like Jack's echo: no it doesn't. Where did you get your views on what xG means from? None of it is correct.

I'm not an expert in that area. My interpretation is that if a player's performance is close to his average every season then he's a consistent finisher. Wild swings are strange but I'm no expert in this area.

;D You have zero credibility on this subject though, a few weeks ago he was better than the man who helped his team win a treble last season.

You need a dictionary mate. I find your takes really childish

Is he a better footballer than Haaland? Yes
Better finisher? No.

Weren't you the one criticising Isak's finishing earlier?🤡 Shows your credibility.

Guilty. I'd love to be as rational as you and have such knowledge.

Darwin is A LOT better than Haaland who's a tap-in merchant.
Based on his 18 months here, is he good enough to lead the line for a team that wants to win the League or CL?
Just not good enough for a team that wants to win trophies.

Can you explain how he can be "A LOT better" than the 9 who won the league and CL last season one week but then not good enough to win trophies with another week?

Tap in merchant gives the clue :D I don't normally engage with you because you have a knack for misinterpreting things so it's a waste of time explaining like you're a toddler.

I'm not 10 years old mate. If not I'd insist on your takes on Isak's finishing🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You can go argue with kids because the intellectual level of your conversations is too low for me.

If you exclude own goals, Liverpool and Newcastle have both scored 68 league goals this season.

Liverpool have taken 179 more shots than Newcastle 😳

For anyone doubting the forward line needs a shift around in the summer.

Still think a big thing for us has been zero team selection consistency, so many injuries and bitty stretches of unavailability is a root cause of much of the issues at either end of the pitch. I think any signings this summer need to be young, athletic and shown a level of robustness

Buy the best centre back we can, a holding midfielder to replace/ compete with Endo, a wide forward and a left back

He's got a point though. Our team, being much better than the Barcodes', would have been close to wrapping up the league had we wan the draws we wasted (not only the two United ones).

There is no pattern. People look for patterns and narratives when mostly it's just variance which by its nature you can't control.

We have 21 more points than them and have played a game less. They’ve racked up goals in some big wins (8-0 at Sheff U for example), we’ve racked up wins. We have the same points as the top side after 31 games. There’s not a single fan in the country that wouldn’t have snapped your hand off for that in July/August given how shite we were last year and the number of changes made in the summer. Yet people are moaning because we haven’t scored the most goals in the league.

Not seen enough of him really. Does look very talented but the relative lack of goals at that level scares me a bit. Obviously really young though. Probably not a great fit in Amorim's system - assuming he ports over the Sporting system.

Is that because the two behind the strikers are attacking midfielders and not wingers?

Yeah. From what I understand one of those two 10y types pulls wide a fair bit but Bakayoko really is an out and out winger.

Who said anything about about wanting to be in Newcastle's position? They've not exactly been overly prolific and have the same amount of goals as us with 179 less shots. That's not a few. We're a wasteful team. The point is we should look to improve on that.

Newcastle today had 27% possession at home.

It is far easier to create clear chances against teams that over-commit. We don't have that luxury.

Bring in forwards with less "chaos" and more IQ. I'd rather less opportunities created from pace and power and more actual returns on chances.

The point isn't about the play-style. I can probably safely say without looking we have created a lot more clear cut chances than Newcastle. The issue is finishing.
