Halfway through season one and loving it. It’s perfect for my current state of mind, I cannot handle one hour episodes of semi-intellectual drivel. It’s cheesy, short and easy to follow.

Finished it just now, gets better as the season goes along and ends with a bang. Loved the last two episodes especially

Agreed. First episode was poor but really picked up and the last couple were great. Hitting the right notes in these awful times.

Daniel-san's son (felt pleasing to type that) has had somewhat of a change from season one.

I've checked and it is actually the same actor  :o

What I'm finding mildly off putting in season Three

Spoiler
Is the constant "oh look, character X has a backstory and the reason they were an asshole in the film's is actually...."

It made a certain amount of sense with Jonny as it's clear at the end of the first film and beginning of the second that he's not a total ass.

The scenes with Zabka are arguably the best.

Yes I know I'm reading too much into it.  8)

I'll keep watching until the end but alot of the fight scenes belong on Strictly Come Dancing. At least in this season Sam Larusso Lee took a couple of hits

The way they ended it was more akin to a mid season break. Either give us more episodes or tighten up the writing

I think the obvious move here is to wrap up the Kreese stuff in season 4 and then have Tommy the Green Ranger show up and the kids unite against his gym.
Maybe the group, led by your leadership, will see these drafts as PR functions and brilliant use of humor

I read they were hoping to start shooting soon (I've seen some things shot under Covid and I hope they wait. It looks weird) and finish before summer, looking at late 2021 or early 2022 release

Exactly what I think - only part way through season one.

I started it last week and powered through 4 episodes. My missus got back from work and sat down and was immediately engrossed and asked that I start the series again with her. She'd never actually seen Karate Kid (both born in the 90s but still!) so we watched that and have gone through 5 episodes now, so I've overtaken where I was up to.

It's just good fun. It makes you smile with the cheesiness but it knows what it is. Interesting but I never knew this - William Zabka (Johnny Lawrence) was only 18 when filming the original Karate Kid - Ralph Macchio (Danny LaRusso) was 22! He looks about 14! Elizabeth Shue was in her 20s too.

It's the same with the kids now.

I thought Miguel was at least some way believable as a teen - that explains it!

It's long been a staple of teen drama/ drama casting to have early/mid 20s actors play teenagers. In Gossip Girl they were all in their mid 20s, in 90210 some were pushing 30. The ultimate example was Grease - harder to find a cast member under 30 than over, and they were all playing 18 year olds.

One episode left and really enjoying it, for all the reasons listed above.

I like the way they intercut the old footage.

But I have now realised that I have never seen Karate Kid 2 ;D

Maybe that is why I like the old footage.

I’d say they’re worth watching to help with the back story and context although not absolutely essential. Have you seen the third instalment? I get the feeling we’re going to be seeing at least one character returning from KK3 in the next series. Neither sequel is as good as the original film in my view

Started Season 2 and still having a blast with it, it's just good fun and knows it's a bit silly.

Kreese returning was unexpected, I must say that he, William Zabka and Ralph Macchio all look phenomenal for their age, all pushing 60 or with well into his 70s with Kove!

No. It wasn't as good as previous seasons. Still one of the most fun 40 minutes you can spend on a show.

I find the fight scenes too stylised, except for with Kreese. Maybe it is his age that prevents him from the Strictly Come Dancing routines that the others do.

A certain person's u-turn was laughable as well. One of the most laughable I've seen

His hands are always in the same position, I have come to the conclusion he's actually frozen like that and they wheel him in on a trolley for each scene

He does have some slight mobility in his neck, so he can jut his chin out and up to go into full, menacing Kreese mode...

Finished it last night and whilst very cheesy, it leans into it and knows it. I think William Zabka actually gives a fairly detailed portrayal of Johnny, a lot more pathos than I'd have given him credit for initially, given it's Karate Kid. He's pretty funny also.

Agree on
Spoiler
the U-turn element in the final episode, planted the seed for that way, way too late and it felt like too much damage has been done for the immediate acceptance back into the fold. Either way.

I loved season 3. For me season 2 is the weakest of the three to date, though I still really enjoyed it. I'll echo what the other lad said: yeah, it's cheesy and overly nostalgic but I don't think that's a bad thing and it always puts a smile on my face, which given the state of the world right now is priceless. Can't wait for s4.

Started this at the weekend. After reading about it I wasn't too gone on it but the missus convinced me to give it a go and I think it's brilliant. It is cheesy but it knows it and it's all the better for it. Even got our 15 year old daughter to watch it with us now.
