Coincidence! I finished it this morning too and had the same thought. It made literally no sense and sold out some of the characters I thought.

Overall though the series was much better than I thought.

Finished it last night too, was thinking the same. They have everything that happened on camera so how did they blame those four?

My guess about the show is that the makers/studio got cold feet towards the end and wanted to bring it a lot closer to The Boys. Culminating with

Spoiler
Homelander cameo which makes sense since the PR bitch was in trouble and the shit hit the fan, but what doesn't make sense is how he can lazer Moreau without killing her. Unless he was deliberately pulling his punches to spare them on purpose for some reason which will come out in the next season of Boys or Gen V.
[close]

Overall I liked the show a lot more than I thought I would despite the final episode being one of the weakest. Can't see how anyone who likes Boys would not like this.

Spoiler
Homelander has lasered a few people without killing them; Stormfront, Butcher and now Moreau. It's been suggested numerous times that she's stronger than she realises so her surviving that hit is another hint at that.

Gen V seemed to take place after the events of the last season of The Boys, so I think we might see little to no overlap between the two next season, other than maybe a teaser at the end. Them getting locked in that room seems a neat way of saying they won't be involved for a bit at least.

Their phones were all supplied by Vought so it's feasible they were remotely shut off to prevent any leaks, and presumably even teens still prefer to get away from people being murdered before whipping their phones out.

In any case it's an oversight I don't mind, it's a difficult thing to always be aware of and to write around without having to constantly explain it.

So many great moments and silly gags in those first three episodes that had me cracking up

Everything the new Black Noir does

All great.

Watched the first 3.

It's always been a show where the villains are far more interesting than the heroes, to the point where I find myself tuning out completely in a lot of the scenes involving the Boys, especially Frenchie/Kimiko. Borrrrring. Anything involving Homelander and The Deep are still the best bits, A-Train is good too - that white saviour movie was pretty funny.

I do agree. The Frenchie character is proper boring now IMO. Homelander telling the Deep to blow A-Train  :lmao

Okay, watched the 2nd episode before getting on Gen-V, had some classic Boys stuff. Really liked the alt-right convention stuff, nice mix of fucked up/mad action that is obviously pretty well trodden territory for the show.

I quite enjoyed the first 3 seasons, but I’m getting a bit bored of it now.   It’s like the same things happen over and over again - the plot doesn’t really seem to go anywhere.  Maybe the “shock” value has just worn off for me.

I do know what you mean a little. They're making a thing of Butcher being useless this season, but he's always been useless. Frenchie also took a long time to get to a better place and then they put him right back to where he was a couple of seasons ago.

Yeah the mid-episode ads are annoying. You can pay extra to get rid of them but that's pretty annoying in and of itself.

I'd cancel if I didn't get so much value out of the free shipping.

I'm not sure what Starlight did was all that damaging honestly, having someone steal your medical records and read them out live on TV makes them fair game, plus she made the newest member of The Seven look like a weak little turd.

I was assuming/hoping Butcher would get his hands on some V soon so he can finally stop being a useless muppet, but I guess we'll have to wait a bit still.

I'm enjoying Season 4 so far, but it does feel like the writing is on the wall for the show, and I think Eric Kripke has made the right decision to cap it at 5 seasons. There simply isn't enough longevity to keep it going beyond that. Good shows know when to end.

Hopefully with the end in sight, we'll see some braver decisions towards the end of the season. Can't kill off Homelander since Anthony Starr pretty much carries the show, but everybody else should be fair game.

I think episodes 2 and 3 of the new season have been quite an improvement on the first one, and the 4th is said to be quite impressive too. Will get around to that later.

I agree, it's just the same storyline with Homelander at the center with uninspiring supporting characters getting killed off one by one.

Homelander is great, really well acted but he's not had a story arc at all.

They've kind of written themselves into a corner because the main plot since day 1 has been "kill Homelander" but they can't because he's by far the best thing about the show.
