I don't get how he consistently dives over everything. I just watched back the England 1-2 Spain match from earlier in the season that I remember thinking he didn't do very well in and yeah, it seems that if you hit it straight at him or an inch either side and he just dives over the thing. I suppose he saved the first shot for the second goal today but only just, and it went straight to Dele so it wasn't even that good a save anyway.

this should be stickies to the top of the thread

what was ridiculous though, was that he'd already made countless blunders before that interview. Shows how protected certain goalies are, that he was never pulled up by the media on them. Then he let a world cup penalty shootout peformance go to his head, and the arrogance has made him an even worse goalie than he was before.

Everton fans I know are saying it was Zouma's fault, so they can still call Pickford a top level sweeper keeper.

Had a discussion with a relatively calm blue yesterday who said:

"Chelsea needed a sweeper keeper like Alisson or Pickford"

"We both got great ball playing keepers, and Pickford is even a little younger than Alisson"

"People are linking him with United if De Gea goes, but why would he want to go there"

its also the benefit of playing at a team so shite like Sunderland (think Defoe is the only other one of that squad in a PL squad now) that people will overlook it, no one was arsed about everton last year so his fuckups were under the radar but since he became England’s keeper there’s so much more attention on him

In hockey, a beatdown like this often gets the keeper substituted, if only to save him further embarrassment. Silva's doing him no favours keeping him on the pitch.
Oh, these sour times.

No one admires resilience when you were just plain wrong all along - that's just twattishness.

Ye, but those 18 were born, not manufactured. It's in their DNA.

There's nothing. Never has a reputation been so out of whack with what's actually produced on the pitch, he's a media creation. He's absolutely shite and no one bats an eye lid if he's still at Sunderland in league one.

He needs to be dropped, if only for his own sake. But doing that means admitting he's broken, which could cripple his international career and his transfer value.

Remember when their fans were convinced he was better than Alisson, then he conceded 6 at home in one game... meanwhile Alissons conceded 1 more in all of our league games

If you put it like that  :lmao

I feel for him. Wrong job he got, should be a forklift driver in the Asda.

He’s need a specially built extra wide steering wheel with in on those wee hobbies on it to steer it!!!

He reminds me of a wee lad who used to work in a factory I worked in during the summers as a student. Wasn’t the brightest and certainly wasn’t the biggest. His nickname on the job was grub screw as he was so small!!!  He was forever trying to get on the forklift so one day the foreman let him do it. ‘Move that pallet of steel out of the yard grub screw ‘. With much enthusiasm and excitement he jumped into the seat and away he went ..... straight in reverse into a lathe that was for cutting the steel he was moving 🤣. Needless to say he never made it behind the wheel again!!
