I feared the worst when Matip's header came back off the bar, but when you have the quality of Coutinho and Sturridge on the pitch it makes such a difference.

A great team performance under huge pressure.

There's nothing to be taken for granted next week. I would play the same team but swap Origi for Firmino if he is fit.

We are so close to a very, very good season, a huge improvement on last year and a massive stride forward in our progress as a club.

Full focus, high pressing and no mercy next week.

Real commanding performance. Players handled the pressure very well - better than half of our fans thankfully.

Roll on Boro. Keep the faith reds 🔴

That was satisfying. Hell of win under the circumstances. Reestablished a healthy GD to Arsenal put City under pressure again.

I really liked the changes Klopp made to the system today. We play with a much better tempo when we condense space and play short quick passes through midfield. At times today, we played like we did in October-November. Coutinho was brilliant in the #8. Maybe his best match all season.

Who was available and who would you have bought? I keep asking this question whenever this statement comes up, never get a concrete answer

We should have bought err... thingy...  you know, the 20 goal a season, pacy front man that was just hanging around on the bench of one of the top teams in Europe. You're such a 'neg-head' man.

Others including myself have asked similar questions, but rarely get any answers.

there is lot of players who would have improved us. zaha is a big talent big strong and most importantly pace can play both left and right and even through the middle at a pinch. scores goals and assists. the kid at leicester gray another winger pace to burn and can play both sides both players have talent and potential and i think klopp and is staff would enjoy getting the best out of them. the italian striker southampton bought in january for what 15m. great movement and good finisher. the dutch winger who plays in russia who we were linked with is it promes great goalscoring record as well. i havent even mentioned the south american market.

i am no football expert or scout but i think its a lazy argument from fans and clubs who say there was no one available. the scouting networks that big clubs have are worldwide and your telling me there is no players worldwide who would have improved us. looking at our bench since january i think a lot of players could have come in and have improved our options.

a title challenge was and should have been reality. klopp and the players were amazing up until new year and they were let down by the self inflicted incompetence of recruitment whether that was owners, edwards or klopp. january comes, mane goes away for a month our top scorer and only player in the last third with genuine pace and no one is brought in. even if mane stayed we still needed another player at least. fucking negligence for me.

hopefully finish with a good win next week and we can at least salvage something from a season were we have made a lot of progress but we should have had a legitimate title challenge.

Do yourself, and this thread, a favour. Fuck off with your negativity.

Sublime performance. Has to be the same next weekend.

That could have been a cricket score. We hit the bar 3 times, scored 4, didn't get out of second gear at times. We needed that, it's been a while since we twatted a team. Coutinho will surely move deeper next season as Klopp hinted at, and he was great today. He's worth the price of admission alone.

Coutinho was played in the front 3 this season because only Mane and him goals in them with Sturridge being a perm crock. It was simply ineffective when Lallana and Origi has to play upfront.

You think Palace would have sold us Zaha a few weeks after Fat Sam was appointed? And Leicester were still fighting for survival in January. Give us one name for a player that was actually available and would have made a difference?

Not sure anyone was saying no one was available, I think they were saying the right players weren't available. If someone is the right player or not is clearly a matter of opinion. I'm happy to trust Klopp's opinion on important stuff like signing players rather than, oh I dunno... mine for example.

The only team in the league not to lose to Chelsea! I'd say we did our bit this season to challenge for the league. I know our performances against the lesser teams let us down but take nothing away from our achievement with the young squad we have. Well done to us!

Never in doubt today  ::) . No, honestly.

We had total control bar one fluky set-piece.

We need to ward-off the Coutinho suiters and keep Sturridge (???).

Apart from those two, there were no failures, enjoyed the performance of Matip, Mignolet. Origi def better in a two.

Got to be honest, was not confident we would win this (unless with another scrappy effort like WBA or Watford) - so was very impressed with them today. Just got to make sure we play with the same focus and energy against Boro.

So if we cast our gaze further a field from liverpool other top teams signed who in january? Kind of gives you the impression they all couldn't find the right players. There's more money in football these days. Palace can easily tell us to do one in january if we even wanted zaha as the 100 million plus they make from the prem is more than zaha is worth in selling. As klopp said teams are happy to wait until summer to sell as they know the player values will still be high

Thoroughly enjoyed that, most I've enjoyed a game for ages. Nice to get 1-0 wins but you just can't beat twatting teams and a twatting is what it was. Shame we couldn't have got a couple more for our goal difference, Origi should have squared it to Studge for 5-0 but that's being picky. I'd have snapped your new off for 4-0 at the start and a great comfortable performance to boot.

Was telling my son that it was a sublime example of keeping it simple. Many players would have taken too many touches or snatched at it. Let the ball run onto him then 3 perfect touches.

Wasnt convinced when I saw Phil playing in the MF and Lallana playing further forward, for me it should have been the other way around.

Then again it worked a treat, its almost as if Jurgen knows more than me  ;D

Fucking get it! Proud of the lads. Really stood up today. Phil and Dan were incredible. Lallana was great, too.

16 out of 18 points available away to London teams this season. Some going that.

Big game next week, but if we play at that level, I feel that we'll be hearing that CL theme song ringing around Anfield very soon...

Is of course right, but it don't stop people from whining about 'FSG not financing this', or 'we demand a signing' that. Not for one minute do these people stop to think that buying wrongly has been the issue for many years here.

Anyway, on to today and just watched more of the game and am actually disappointed this was not 7 or 8!  8) Will take that any day and it puts the pressure back on City and Arsenal. have a feeling that one of them will slip up (hopefully City) in the midweek games, but we've still got one game left ourselves, so lets not get ahead of ourselves and concentrate on utterly mauling 'Boro... (Curmudgeonly twat, aren't I?!  ;D)

Well done Redmen. Now finish the job...

Here is an interesting statistic Liverpool have now won at more Premier League Stadiums then any other team, we have 52 wins.

Has anyone over- analysed  Coutinho's subdued goal celebrations? If not then I'll drop that grenade now. :D

That feels good - mostly because Man U can not finish above us.

It doesn't sound like Bobbie has much of a chance for the Boro match, so it looks like Divock and Humungous D up front again

Can we persuade Burnley & Bournemouth to move their franchises to Bermondsey & Barnet?
