Seems strange he hasn't gone to Austria if he's going to be fit enough to play in 12 days' time. Matip and Henderson are out there following bespoke training plans as they recover from injury.

Both of those are out on the pitch rehabbing though. Could be the case Trent needs something more specialist that the hotel cannot provide but which we have at Melwood.

I wish they wouldn't bother playing Joe Gomez either but that's too much to hope for with Slabhead out for crimes against Greek police. The Charity Shield match proved how important Trent is to the way we play but that dependence on one player is worrying. We need alternative ways of attacking, and the strikers really need to start putting away their chances.

Might help if we signed some players to give everyone a kick up the arse and stop complacency setting in.

Its why we are linked to Thiago. Inject some creativity back into the middle of pitch. We are brilliant at playing vertically down the wings, a bit stale through the middle. Options and that.

Am I the only one who thinks Thiago is a smokescreen? Someone we don’t expect is coming in... Tsimikas style. Thiago is a fantastic player but I don’t see Edwards coughing up 30 million euros for an injury prone 30 year old who’s going to be available on a free next year. Wouldn’t be surprised if we go back for Jamal Lewis despite getting Tsimikas. Jamal can cover CB and CDM. Maybe just wishful thinking from me but I think another player is going to be announced soon, but not who we expect.

Robertson beat him on the style points though. A lot of Trents assists were boring set pieces.

Man United and “young” Jessie Lingard are seeking a recount. If the PFA refuses, United and Lingard plan to appeal to CAS.

Lingard has complained of prejudicial behavior on the part of players, fans and the media, including height discrimination, contributing to an uncomfortable work atmosphere, making it difficult for him to score more than one goal, or to find his teammates for an assist, in the entire season.

It is being reported that CAS will either uphold Lingard's appeal, or reject it.

Disappointing, if true. We want Trent to win it, but not in this way.

He got caught a few times not keeping the line, one of which resulted in Alisson's save of the game. But he was his usual threat upfront and made some good things happen. The assist to Robbo was sublime.

In the history of the PL, how many better crossers have there been? He has to be up there with Beckham, De Bruyne and I suppose Giggs too. Not many more who get to close to him really.

Some of those first time volleyed crosses require the sort of technique that only a select few have. This boy is so special.

That volley that was deflected on to the bar was utter filth too. Neville said Leno had it covered but he didn't, it was slicing all the way to the top corner, a bit like Stevie all those years ago.
