If we dont get 6 points out of the next 2 games and/or 10 points out of the next 5 then it really is a potentially written off season for top four.

Think we will struggle against Norwich due to Europe league, beat a poor Aston Villa side but struggle against two tough away games against everton and spurs. Would be shocking results like though

7 blocks of 5 with 10 points each on average makes 70 points. 3-6 point from the remaining 3 games should put us 3rd or 4th at least. Lost points needs to be won back in later blocks, extra points is a bonus to make us aim higher than 4th.

So far

Away v Stoke - 3p
Home v Bournemouth - 3p
Away v Arsenal - 1p
Home v West Ham - 0p
Away v Man Utd - 0p

7 points (-3 from the projections)

Next 5

Home v Norwich - 3p
Home v Aston Villa - 3p
Away v Everton - 1p
Away v Tottenham - 1p
Home v Southampton - 3p

11 points

Providing we take the last two games as a kick up the backside and the players don't allow themselves to mope, I believe we have 4 extremely winnable games in the next 5, though our good run against Spurs is going to have to end eventually...

Norwich (H) 3
Aston Villa (H) 3
Everton (A) 3
Spurs (A) 1
Soton (H) 3

I take it those that are predicting we take any points from Everton didn't watch their match against Chelsea yesterday? They ran all over them and should have been 4 up after half an hour, they'll be even more up for it when a stuttering Liverpool arrive at Goodison...

It's not often they win comfortably against us though really is it? Other than that 3-0 Andy Johnson game I can't recall them dominating us in the last ten years.

I'd imagine it will be a scrappy affair and probably a draw.

and that's exactly the territory we find ourselves in again now, it'll be a similar outcome.

For the next three, this is what we need:

Norwich (h): 3
Aston Villa (h): 3
Everton (a): 3
Spurs (a):
Soton (h):

Southampton are tricky. They are poor now, but they finished top half last season. Same with Spurs. The other three, Everton included, did not. We'll need 9 points from the next three, but it's a good chance for us to get back to 'par', which would be a total of 18+ points after 10 games.

Seeing as we have managed 3 goals so far in the first 5 games, are we realistically likely to improve on this over the next 5?   Possibly with Coutinho, Sturridge and Henderson returning.   Will we stop giving the opposition assists?    Probably not.  See us scoring a few more but still conceding, maybe  8  for and 6 against.  Norwich wont be easy, 1 point, Benteke on fire against Villa, 3 points,  expect the same lame performance against Everton as we had against Utd, 0 points,  Spurs a bore draw, 1 point,  Southampton another day for defensive calamities but Sturridge finding form, 3 points. Total 8 points.

You seem to have blocked out  that game at Goodison under Hodgson, not that I blame you.

Think we will win against Either of Spurs or Everton but we will most certainly draw at least one of those home games.

7-10points I'd say.

Norwich (h): 3
Aston Villa (h): 3
Everton (a): 1
Spurs (a): 1
Soton (h):  3

We got 4 points from Stoke, Arsenal, and United, so I don't see why we can't get a couple of points away again. Then there's 3 home games we really should be winning, and I think we will.

Norwich are a side who'll come out to play, which will be to their detriment at Anfield. Villa usually cause us problems but as the saying goes, the shoe (Benteke) is on the other foot now. Saints look awful so far this season.

I fancied us to get 9 from the opening 5. We got 7, and we were lucky to have that. With the next set of 5 I really can't say. It's entirely possible that Norwich could do a West Ham and beat us. Same for Villa, who are bogey team for us at home. On current form and performances Everton will beat us, and Spurs and Southampton won't be easy.

I'll go for 6 points. I think we'll scrape a derby win with form going out of the window, and finally beat Villa at home. But Norwich will get at us and I can't see us doing well on the back of a Thursday game, and Spurs and Southampton will just play better than us even though they aren't anything special.

7. Hopefully wins against Soton and Norwich and a draw somewhere in between. Then again, I think Norwich will want to set the record straight when they come here.

Definitely. If it wasnt for that West Ham debacle we would have got that from the first five and we would be lauding a good start.

Definitely possible to get it here and quite frankly we are past the point of excuses. We need to deliver at leadt 10 points.

Aston Villa (h): 3
Everton (a): 1
Spurs (a): 1
Soton (h):  3

I'd go with that too. Though it wouldn't surprise me if we won  one of those aways and drew at home.

We're a point behind where I expected us to be at this stage. Thought we'd draw at Stoke and beat WH. A point from Utd and Arsenal away will do.

I take it those that are predicting we take any points from Everton didn't watch their match against Chelsea yesterday? They ran all over them and should have been 4 up after half an hour, they'll be even more up for it when a stuttering Liverpool arrive at Goodison...

Fair play to the bitters. They absolutely battered Chelsea, Coleman and the other young lad at the back had stormers. The Chelsea were uncharacteristically slack in midfield and defence. It's a sad world when watching Everton beat Chelsea becomes one of the weekend's high points. My life could have been so different ...

I had Everton down as a win or draw for us. I think a draw would be our best hope based on our respective performances on Saturday.

They are another side who like a good start though.

I hate being negative but this is a tough start, par is probably around 6 or 7 pts.

In the following 5 we could hit 10-15 easy so even a low tally in the first 5 I won't be majorly disapointed. Just more disapointed that we don't hit the ground running after a dreadful finish to last season and Rodgers job likely on the line.

Correct with the first 5 unfortunately. I'm going with 10-12pts from the next 5.

Norwich (h)
Villa (h)
Everton (a)
Spurs (a)
Southamton (h)

Two wins in the first two and 4-6pts over the next 3.

Par is about 10 IMO.

Still have no idea what this current team is capable of, so feel a bit stupid predicting the next 5 results.

But will give it a go

Norwich (h): 3
Aston Villa (h): 1
Everton (a): 1
Spurs (a): 1
Soton (h):  3
