It's a Liverpool in the Community initiative - a stark reminder of "Purple Aki" and some of the perils to watch out for if you happen to stray into the area of Gwladys Street and Goodison Road. 

Our new owners think of everything these days, very committed to providing a decent environment for the locals.  I mean, they're even making the stands so big that half of Liverpool will have no chance of seeing the eyesore across Stanley Park - how considerate is THAT!!

Its not unsafe. suppose we cant tell the width of the ground fixings etc around it but there doesnt have to be a hand rail in all circumstances for it to be deemed safe.

You cant tell me that working on that top level, with one set of handrails that would prob be around knee - hip height is safe?

It's more than twice the height. The Centenary is already much higher than the Kop but no one seems to worry about that.

It's more than twice the height. The Centenary is already much higher than the Kop but no one seems to worry about that.

It was never a problem for the old Spion Kop either...

The Centenary 'dwarfs' the Kop but what you read is the lower tier of the Centenary and the sheer scale of the single bank of the Kop.

The Kop will look just fine as it will read against the lower tier of the new Main Stand which is the whole of the existing Main Stand.

That Frank Green pic is shite as the right hand side of the kop never looked like that and it looks like the paddock is in the kop and there was not a big fuck off pillar there too,

Never liked that pic or drawing whatever ya call it even looks like the main stand is half way in the Kop too

Sorry mate, but I think Frank Green's painting is a representation of the Kop's Last Stand and does accurately present it as it was as best you can in a painting. The Main Stand wing section did extend underneath the Kop roof (I sat there a few times in the past). These pics show it and the pillars too.

Road is a main trunk road behind the Kop, so highly unlikely it could be moved. Now would be the time to do it given the amount of demolition going on but seems little to no intent to do so by the club or the council. Cost could be huge too due to that, which then makes the return on any expansion, especially the Kop where it wouldn't have any corporate tickets to pay for it, unworkable.

Houses behind the Centenary are in decent condition, and as far as I'm aware pretty much all lived in. It's one thing working with the council to get land behind the Main Stand where the vast majority of the houses were empty and in poor condition - it's another to get them when they are lived in and habitable. As with the Kop, to buy them privately would cost a fortune and make any expansion unworkable. That's before you consider the work involved in expanding the Centenary which would more than likely require the Upper being removed.

The best bet is making a larger Anny Road end than is planned, but obviously there are various issues involved with that, the transport one being the largest and most costly.

A safe standing Kop could see a further 6-8k on there (roughly, could be less, could be more depending on the configuration) and hopefully lower prices - but again you'd have transport issues, and the small matter that it's currently not allowed.

No sorry. Nothing amazing to be fair. Long uprights around about the middle of the stand being lifted into position. About 40ft in length. Gonna fly up isn't it?
