Because I have that remove, because I am not invested in him personally, I feel any judgement I make carries the added cache of impartiality that most Liverpool fans wouldn't be expected to have.

All the other things you've said aside, the fact that you don't like him (because of some pretty stupid stuff, frankly) doesn't make you impartial. If anything, the opposite.

I agree with your points re his managing, though.

I cannot warm to the man. His personality assures that remains so. The obvious ego, the management speak, the white teeth. If I met him in a bar I would be tempted to leave the bar. To my mind he is one step removed from the red trousered, 'heino' brigade.

You are talking about the man I love.

He's doing all of this without his first choice defence, and with a weaker squad than the other three teams at the top, and Spurs.

Wrap your heads around that.

In his second season, in February, he has us challenging for the league and he hasn't even had his first choice 11 for more than a few games, if that.

What will we be like WITH a consistent starting 11?!?

Death by football.
One thing does need to be said: in the post-Benitez era, there was media-led clamour (but also some politicking going on at the club) to make the club more English; the idea being that the club had lost the very essence of what it means to be ‘Liverpool’. Guillem Ballague 18/11/10

He needs to sort out the defence.

I know its easy to blame kolo and skrtel or even mignolet..but the highest errors in the league leading to a goal cant be just about individuals.

Sometimes i feel the communication between keeper and the 2 centrebacks arent as good as it was when reina was in goal
(mind u i'm not saying I want reina back.. but u can somehow feel assured whenever crosses came in that we'd deal with it when carra and reina was in charge)

The clean sheets will return when Agger returns, we've got 5 clean sheets in 9 games Agger has started this season. 2 clean sheets in 17 without him.

Is he proving a point to FSG by bringing on youth

He brought that young lad Smith on against Chelsea

and today he brought on Countiho's younger twin.

Our Bench has to be the weakest out of the top 7

Jones, Agger, Aspas, Moses, Allen, Kelly, Teixeira

Agger and Allen are great players but are not going to help when we need someone to come on and spark life into the game.

Teixeira and Ibe are kids with little experience

Aspas just hasn't worked

and Moses sometimes can't be fucked

I'm just asking myself the same question.

Its pretty obvious aspas/moses/and the other spanish kid.. arent his first choice signings.

Hes not given them chances like he has to allen

He's not stupid enough to gamble league points by bringing on anything other than what e feels are the best players available. Giving Sinclair his debut in the league cup game, that might have been a bit of a statement, but not Teixeira's debut tonight.

It's also not at all obvious that Aspas, Moses + Alberto aren't his signings. It's not unusual for players to take a season to become accustomed to a new league.

Just the sort of game where a manager proves his worth in terms of the right mentality he has instilled manifesting itself in the players. Huge credit to Brendan, building something very exciting here.
It looks to me as if we have signed another 'average' player. I'll hold back my complete opinion until I see the lad play

Top managers have the balls to make big decisions. Bringing a lad on for his debut, when chasing a winner, to stay in contention, is most definitely a big decision.

There was a recent article which stated that Rodgers wanted a defender in January but the club tried to sign a forward, not sure how much truth there is to that but it does seem like we might have an issue with prioritising the right positions (as well as the quality of last summers signings)

Thanks Brendan. Not only for developing Sturridge into one of the best strikers in the country. But also for giving England one of the most in form strikers in the world just before a world cup.

Thanks Brendan. Not only for developing Sterling into one of the best wingers in the country. But also for giving England one of the most in form wingers in the world just before a world cup.

That GIF of the celebration shows what he has done for the club. Everyone celebrates - even the likes of Aspas who has only played a bit part this season is genuinely loving us winning. Was also a foul on Coutinho? that was given to Fulham and Aspas was screaming at the referee in the background. Love the fact that Rodgers has the whole club fighting and getting behind the team

This man is special - this man is the Liverpool manager
