I reckon he's going to play near every game until Sturridge is fit or January signings come in which will be fantatstic for the lad. I think then barring exceptional form we should look at loaning him. IMO he's marginally better than Moses but if Sturridge is fit and we bring in another attacker I'd rather Moses rot on the bench as cover until his loan finishes than hamper Sterlings development.

You want a Liverpool player to "rot" on the bench? That's really pathetic coming from a Liverpool supporter.

A goal an assist and some good play leading to the fourth goal at 18 and he still gets shit for not being brilliant all the time. He has more of a footballing brain and better technique than Walcott and Lennon at his age.

Very good point. I think that gets missed a lot when discussing Sterling, we hold him to the standards of a seasoned vet, when really we have some one performing on one of the biggest stages in world Football when most people his age are serving fries at at McNasty's.

He's a very good player by normal standards. By the standards of 18 year olds, or hell, even U21s he's brilliant. We have a very talented future superstar on our hands in my honest opinion.

The point is that if we are to choose between Sterling or Moses who essentially bring similar qualities, it's better to field Sterling because he'll likely be around longer whereas there's every chance Moses will go back to Chelsea or go somewhere else. It's not a comment about leaving Moses out in the cold, more about what is the best thing to do. Obviously both could play, like the Hull game

I wonder if the people who keep saying (not necessarily in this forum, I've heard it personally too) Sterling is not good enough are the same people who were building him up to ridiculous heights last season after a few good games? Now he can't live up to those ridiculous standards he is being criticised, like it's his problem fans and media built him up far too much.

He's 18. A good talent and an exciting prospect. Needs time and needs to be handled right. Think he'll be fine.

Could be one of those lads who stood out at a young age and then stagnates, could be one who stutters and then goes on to better things. Only time will tell, but he's not what we need in our push for top four at the moment. Needs to go out on loan to get some experience.

Same number of goals and assists as Coutinho and Henderson combined in probably a quarter of the game time.

I hate stats. They so often give a false impression. He was ok on Wednesday but he's been shite up to then. Nowhere near ready.

Hull was the first time he had played for five matches and the whole team was shite. Other than that he has mainly had a few minutes here and there.

He done well against Norwich and scored, something missing from our other wide players so far this season.

Think he played well and am very glad he got his goal. Hopefully, it'll push him on and give him confidence and more importantly, some arrogance. Arrogance, which is needed throughout the team, especially when playing in the wide areas which Sterling seemed to have in spades when he first burst through the first team but seems to have lost a bit this season. He's terribly young though so we're bound to see ups-and-down regarding his form over the next 4-5 years.

I'd personally like him to have a run of game's before he gets written off again.
Who takes his place Moses won't be here after this season, Aspas looks better in the position that Luis plays and that's based on pre season.

Would be silly not playing him after he's just scored and been praised by the manager. Especially if say Moses came in for him.

He's hardly been shite this season though. How many games has he started? 4 I think? Won a penalty, scored 2 goals. Not bad at all.

He isn't much of an impact player granted. Maybe he needs to work on that. We shouldn't pretend he 'burst onto the scene' last year. What stood out then was the maturity of his play and his work-rate.

Stats. Schmatz.

He is a lightweight winger who has lost the confidence to take people on. He needs to regain it because for all his neat touches beating his man is all he uniquely offers.

These aren't possession or pass completion stats, they are the stats that win you games. In 3 of the 4 games he's started, he's contributed to us scoring, and goals win you games.

And like I've said, the reason he was impressive last year when he came into the team wasn't because he was whizzing past people.  Look at the past match threads, no-one was saying that.

I think you're fishing but I'll bite.

He's brought more to the table with his raw, flaky, inconsistent, but at times fairly productive appearances then anyone else we have available.

I don't think he is, whats he is saying is pretty much what everyone has been saying before he scored against Norwich.

He has lacked confidence and looked to have regressed. There isn't any harm in that he is only 18 he is going to be inconsistent.

I agree,

i think his passing and movement is really really under-rated. He has got a really good passing range however i think he just lacks a bit of confidence to use his full range at the moment. Its on show however when he playes for the ressies or the england U21's

Brilliant today. Looked confident on the ball, passing was crisp, showed some good pace and was unlucky not to score. Scoring on Wednesday must have done him the world of good.

Well in Shaq.
"I was pleased also with Peter Crouch. We have been talking to him, before and after his nose operation, to show more confidence with his heading.

"Now it seems to have worked. Lets say that if he has a few games without scoring again, maybe we should arrange to break his nose again."

Wouldn't go as far as saying he was class but he certainly played well, unlucky not to get a goal aswell.

He can only improve so the future is looking good for him and us, he's got pace to burn and if he can learn to keep the ball under control at pace, as well as he did today, then he'll be some asset for us.

Looked like the player that had us excited last season, I think a run in the team will really see him push on.

He missed a few chances today but he poses a bigger goal threat than all our other wide players because of the runs he makes in behind, I hope Brendan keeps playing him.

Loved his first half. Wasnt clinical and could have done things better but he was playing so direct and involved in everything, if he keeps playing like that he will improve so so quickly i would bet anything on it.

Even on a bad day, I would rather see this lad get a full 90 on the pitch than have to watch Victor Moses run around like a total headless chicken.
