It's him and one other at the moment. To come in and cement his place like that is great, and he didn't play all that much early on. He's still got lots of time to improve as a player as he's only 23, and still lots of time to still adapt to the league. I really think his potential is limitless. Great signing.

Yeah like someone said above, he dominated the game in the first half. Just stepped out and covered for Flanagan and our midfielders like it was nothing, very accomplished play.

A little bit nervy in the second half, nothing really even worth commenting on, no-one likes it when you get balls played into the box repeatedly. He gives me confidence in our defence.

I bet icommentators or opposition fans if you where to ask how they thought Sakho had done since signing they would say he is shit.

Because non of the football shows praise him or show just how good he has been.

Sakho is so clearly our best CB. He's the only one who

- Turns crosses into throw-ins instead of corners.
- Positions himself properly from incoming set pieces
- Sets his feet early enough to get a good jump
- Gets distance on his headers
- Uses his physique without fouling
- Makes 50-50s into 70-30s
- Doesn't lunge in unless he has a real chance of winning the ball

If illori developes like everybody hopes, that could be some pairing in 2-3 years. Illori doesn't look half the defender that Sahko is but just as good a footballer. Rodgers was right about sorting our CB pairing for the long term. Good call.

Another solid game today. I just don't know why he didn't scream at someone to mark the free man at the back post from the free kick. Just a very silly goal to give away on our part.

"Monster" wouldn't be a bad alternative, would it. He even has a vaguely Frankensteinesque gait about him that I think leads to a lot of the "awkward on the ball" and "Bambi on ice" comments. He's definitely not perfect (and he's got plenty of time to get better), but seeing him in the way of the opposing team's attack fills me with a confidence that no LFC player has for years and years.

I'm sure you've forgotten to mention his pinpoint power passes into feet. It's great having so many players capable of squeezing a pass straight through the opposition midfield. Allen, Lucas, Coutinho all do it extremely well and now Sakho.

To be fair to the comments about him being a limited ball player, they may mean his dribbling ability which I can't say is as graceful as say Agger, but his passing more than makes up for it, and is probably the better attribute for a CB after all. Although I could be giving them commentators too much credit.  :)

I thought we were just buying an aggressive strong centre back but he's so much more. He's so much better with the ball than i ever imagined. Replaced Agger in the side and we haven't missed a step in possession. I'd never heard a French football expert ever talk about his passing but he's fantastic at seeing passes into midfield and plays them at perfect weight. Perhaps he was never asked to play out at PSG.

I like how, although he goes in firmly for a challenge, he knows how to tackle properly, so never looks like giving something silly away.  Goes in along the ground, shins first, and sweeps the ball away.  So far haven't seen a hint of "studs first" from him, which is refreshing compared to some of the lumbering "hard men" in the Premier League.

I honestly think hes one of the best defenders i've seen in ages. The guys a perfect mix of composed/psychotic. I dont even think he had that bad start everyone said "settling in period" first time he played he was trying his backheels in the box and his flicked passes. I expect him to win every challenge he goes into even when hes not the favourite just like the way you expect suarez to perform his impossible dribbles. Yeah i'm saying hes the suarez of defending thats right

I love when there's a loose ball that looks likea 50-50 and you think he's going to have to dive in and send the ball who knows where, but instead he just calmly pushes the other guy off the ball and keeps possession.

I was just wondering on one corner though, he was so far left we were quite exposed - we needed his height in the box. Anyone else notice that?

This.

Loving his performances for us so far. Right mix of aggression and composure. Add to this he's a real threat in opposition boxes. Will surely get 5 goals this year for us which is a big bonus.

He really is a superb defender. I just couldn't believe how the rest of the defence seemed to want to leave him to mark the entire Cardiff attack on all the set pieces.  He was really noisy today as well, marshalling the defence and signalling the bench with advice.
