Bottling implies you cracked under pressure, lost because you were too nervous or scared of the consequences, whereas the reality could just be that you lost or drew a game of football because you were outplayed, and that's normally the case.

Having two of your massive attacking threats who will demand attention and more caution injured in 20 minutes is massive bad luck, especially with the defensive work they put in to.

It seems to be incredibly fashionable at the moment. We 'bottled' the league (even though our loss against Chelsea was more due to an individual mistake, albeit an unfortunate one, than anything else), Hull are apparently going to 'bottle' the Cup final having been two-nil up (even though Arsenal are far better). If they don't Arsenal will have 'bottled' the cup final because they are the better team but lost. And now Atletico are 'bottling' La Liga because they are losing at the Nou Camp.

It's just stupid. I'm not saying sometimes people don't feel the pressure and make a mistake on occasion, I'm just saying it's not ALWAYS bottling when a smaller team beats a bigger one, or someone comes from behind to win, or etc. etc. etc.

While I agree we would not have lost the game v Chelsea, had it not been for a slip. There is no excusing the Palace one. If its not bottling, its just shite. Take your pick but, dont try excuse it.

Thats not a dig at the team either. Sometimes you cant excuse a result/performance, and 3-0 up to 3-3 with that amount to time to go, is one of them.
