No one points out the obvious, which is there is simply no incentive for Levy to give Harry a new contract. Harry has virtually no other realisitic career options other than Spurs, so why offer him a longer deal? Harry would clearly like a longer contract, but unless he resigns I doubt he'll be fired. But it certainly doesn't mean there is this huge rift between them that has been reported by largelly anti Harry ITK's for years.
That actually makes so much sense.
Why give a 60+ manager a new contract or indeed go on a major spending spree with said manager when you can afford to wait it out a year and see what options are available.
Contrary to popular belief Spurs have not mortgaged their future on being in the CL , they have not gone down the Leeds route , and Levy has shown that he is a canny operator when it comes to selling players while they retain a high value , so it makes no sense for him to tie down Redknapp on a long term deal.
Infact if I was a business man I would look at Harry as an asset whose value is receeding and as such short of winning the league or coming close to it , his negotiating position is only going to get weaker.
Were he a man of many options , he would not be crying to the media about his lack of contract.
