Will be a good experience for him - but in all honesty - will he likely even make the substitute bench or  get on the field?

Everyone's on the substitutes bench.

Well done. I think he will develop a lot under Rodgers, has all the attributes.

He is arguably better than Milner and defo better than Jones though.

How is he arguably better than Milner?  Potentially, possibly, but Milner has been a consistent performer at a very high level for some time now.  Not sure about him being definitely better than Jones either.

This will be a great experience for Henderson, and with all the Liverpool players around he'll fit in nicely.  Can't see him starting any matches but if he does it's likely it'll be in the middle, where he's best suited, and not out wide.  Good luck to him.  Hope he comes back with some extra confidence to take a few more risks in his play next season.

Cause I wan't to see better from the lad.

I'm glad he is called up but those that say he deserves it need a word with themselves cause he is far for England quality let alone Liverpool quality.

Wanting to see better could be aimed at every single Liverpool player last season so why single him out?

Yes, he probably has landed on his feet with getting a call up but you sum up some of our support or rather lack of it. What not encourage and admitt the experience will aid him and hopefully Liverpool, that way we all benefit.
The Liverpool way!!!

Let me clarify , i meant in the 'Barry role' in central midfield. Milner is a good player but he is not the best option for that role and neither is Jones for that matter.  That role requires quick short passes and ball retention , things that Henderson can do more than competently.
You will never walk alone , Shanklyboy. RIP.

Yep.

25% of the outfield squad are Liverpool players.

Which, considering how shit we've been this season, says a lot about how shit England are.

Laughable that likes of Downing, Henderson and Carroll are in the squad considering how average they've been for most of this season- but then againthey're mid table players and it's England: a mid table international side.

Or maybe we have very, very good players that need a bit more time to 'bed in'.  I doubt the England NT would have selected them on the merit of last season.

There are players like Witsel, Moutinho, Defour, and we keep spending this amount of money on this, lol. Even our right/left backs are mediocre and we could get cheap players who are a lot better than them. FFS, is it so difficult to sell Glen Johnson, José Enrique and Henderson and get decent young players like Danilo, Alex Sandro, Witsel and Iturbe?

Most likely selected because the other options are just as shit or worse.

Which again, shows how insane our Buy British strategy was last Summer.

Time doesnt buy you some bottle, which is exactly what Downing and Henderson lack. If anything, I expect them to shrink further the minute they get game time in the Euros. A lot more courageous players than them 2 have wilted playing for England. Could be more hiding going on than Osama Bin Laden did after 9/11.

Milner will move in to centre mid.

Henderson isn't good enough for the 1st and won't challenge for a spot.

Can't believe the henderson loving on here.. He isnt even that good. How Liverpool have fallen.

Even after the indifferent debut season he's had. I would defo have him over Milner. Milner is so fucking overrated its untrue. He's Downing but playing alongside fucking Yaya Toure, Tevez, Aguero, Silva, Nasri... Downing will manage the odd standout performance playing in that team. Obviously Milner has alot more fight in him but still...

Henderson should be great under Rodgers. Hopefully we never see him in the right in that system tho.

The Henderson loving is painful cause second to Downing he was the worst of all the new signings.

But he is young.

That title goes to Downing imo, and by some margin.

Henderson has by no means been great, but he's steadily improved and has shown his potential i think.

But yep, opinions and all that.

That this conversation is even taking place shows how fucked up last summer was for us. That being said, Henderson contributed more than Downing's sweet fuck all.
