Yeah, they're individual episodes that each deal with a specific social issue.

That's the point.

He was obsessed with knowing. He had to know to the point of watching it. He wanted to be sure the child was his as well as merely putting the both of them through agony.

What did he gain?

The child wasn't his and his miss's has been fucking around behind his back?

I was hoping for a murder-suicide scenario for the ending, the child going too, obviously.

I thought the only one that held its own was the final episode, one and two seemed to lacked any subtlety. The first two seemed to have the message plastered all over them rather than simmering in the background.

For me it's another episode that suits 30 minutes being dragged out over 60.

And the other problem it has is that it's too similar to the previous episode which wasn't written by Brooker and which was, in all honesty, better.

Still very much looking forward to the other two but weakest episode of the four by some distance for me.

He's essentially re-hashed some old PKD concepts. But I agree, he has taken a big pinch from the Pinter-Monster, long pauses and drawn out scenes are nice, but sometimes can look as if they are just filling the void.

These Black Mirrors are just like Aessop's Fables. Stark stories about the nature of... well... nature.

Have to say I thought this episode was much stronger than any of the first series, surprised people are saying they found it to be the weakest.  Thought it was heartbreakingly beautiful and easily the most "mature" (best acted and directed) so far.

Each to their own though as with something so personal as this, preference could come down to how relateable each episode is to each person's life experience, I recently saw a family friend lose a husband, and seeing what she went through really made this episode hit home for me.

Well, I guess that you posed and answered your own question there mate.

It is good, nonetheless, I do feel that the first series will have a lot to live up to. Especially considering that Charlie Brooker is now writing all of these, as oppose to three different writers in the first series.

after a slow start, it was really very impressive indeed.  dark, twisted, sad, and excellently written.  three out of four episodes have been excellent so far, with only the third from the last series slipping a long way below that standard.

nice to see there's still original writing out there.

I think it's fascinating how nobody agrees which order the episodes should be in for best to worst.

I personally think The National Anthem was the best; but a big reason for that is because I pressed play with absolutely no idea what I would be watching and was so surprised by what I saw. The more episodes you see the more you expect something crazy, so it doesn't hit you in quite the same way.

I think it's fascinating how nobody agrees which order the episodes should be in for best to worst.

i wonder if it's something to do with viewers' own experiences with technology?  for example, as someone who actively avoids social networks, the idea that the "whole history of me" could be publicly accessible is not really relevant to me.  it's still well written and put together nicely, but i found it difficult to get into.

i suppose you could say the latest one is very similar, but to me it was more about AI, and the capacity for data processing to get things very wrong.

Spoiler
when i reflected on it this morning, i realised that there was a missed opportunity in the latest show, in that it didn't explore at all the idea that people present themselves very differently online than in real life.  the 'droid' could have been so much more interesting if it reacted like a RAWKite after a home defeat to WBA every now and again... :)

my favourite is still 15 million credits, for the familiar mindless drudgery, the song, the singer and because daniel kaluuya is awesome.
