30 Rock isn't that funny anymore though. I've obviously yet to watch season 4, but Season 3 Parks and Rec was just fantastic, really hitting their stride.

30 Rock is already confirmed by NBC to have a final season of 13 eps.

Something's been lost in translation. 30 Rock has been renewed for a final season of 13 episodes. But while Community and Parks & Rec may have shorter seasons next year, it won't necessarily be their final ones.

The current season of 30 Rock has been very good, big improvement on last year. Not sorry to see it go though, seven seasons is more than enough for any show. With Parks, it feels a bit early for it to be cancelled yet - six episode first season, which barely counts, and Season 3 was shortened too. Would give it at least two more full years.

Put it this way - by the time 30 Rock has finished its final season, 138 episodes will have aired. If Parks & Rec gets 13 episodes next year, it's be on 81. Still a lot of juice left in the tank.

Hope so. Even if P&R is only given 13 episodes initially, it could still go up. Another show on NBC, Chuck, frequently got 13-episode renewals which were increased during the TV season as the new shows bombed completely.

Thank God for that...went off 30 Rock a long time back and have just been sticking with it just incase it got funny again.

I think it can be a victim of its own brilliance occasionally (and last night particularly). It's such a well-crafted sitcom which is constantly moving forward that we take for granted just how hard it is to be so technically sound on a weekly basis. They've hit us with so many hilarious episodes (see: any time Jean Ralphio is involved) that their more standard fare sometimes comes across as a bit underwhelming. I thought the season premiere was very well crafted and, while it didn't reach the extremely high ceiling of some past episodes, it certainly didn't lower the floor any.

Absolutely criminal as was Nick Offerman's lack of a nomination for Supporting Actor (but hey any time you can nominate four actors from the same damn show you have to do it).

Those travesties, however, were easily offset by the sight of Amy Poehler in that black dress last night. Good Fowler.

He still gets me. I think it's his ridiculous, never-ending optimism that edges it for me. There's just such a beautiful "ignorance is bliss" to his character and I love how it dovetails with April's cynicism. I did find myself thinking about him the other day, though, and it occurred to me: "He used to date Ann Perkins." I know it happened and I even watched it for a full season, but I still can't picture it. Got me thinking of good old Brendanawicz too.

Adam Scott is awesome. His character in Party Down was quite similar to April in their total apathy for work. But then he's just as good playing the tight-arse nerdy boss in this. He's great.
