:lmao

I don't get why you're laughing? we were 4 points behind that season, an in form babel may have gotten us a goal or an assist v stoke and possibly put us 2 goals ahead against spurs leading us to win, he could have won a pen against everton giving us an extra two points, an extra in form player in ANY position could have given us an extra 4 points over the season

Why Ryan Babel should stop Tweeting about great football and start trying to play it instead

By Brian Reade

Among the million Sky viewers left gobsmacked watching El Classico on Monday was Ryan Babel.

“Aye foreal !!!!!!!!!! What da hell is goin on on my tv....This is not human...” he tweeted.

Well Ryan, it was human. And this is what da hell was goin on. Fit and focussed athletes were living up to their potential by playing out of their skin for their team, thus justifying their massive hype, huge transfer fees and incredible wages.

You should try doing it. More than once a season. Instead of tweeting.

Right...because it takes soooo loooooong to text a fucking message.

True, but by that reasoning, it was a good thing not to include him because he could have a) been sent off in a some game or other and we'd have lost, b) could have scored an own goal in some game or other and we could have lost, etc etc. What happened in that season is what happened, speculating wildly won't change anything that happened.

he had an ok game against Steaua when he drifted out wide, missed making a couple of runs that he should have made and through no fault of his own, the communication was off amongst all the attackers. There we go, end of really. I expect him to be on the bench against Villa, and if he comes on i hope the lad does well.
And when you find yourself along the untrodden path

And a toast for the man who loves every hour of every day
And a feast for the friends and faces met along way

Right...because it takes soooo loooooong to text a fucking message.
It is nothing against Babel and tweeting, it is his stupid tweets which get re-posted from here to sun-down. Also, frustrating people along the way to know how much he enjoyed his new Wii, just after the day we have lost when Ryan had been looking at the skies as his team-mates hoped for a run or two.
Hats off to Bill on his throne,

What do you want him to do with his spare time ? Go on the piss, go the bookies, shag half of Liverpool and get himself in grief.

He is a professional footballer and is asked to work for about 4 hours a day. Outside of that he can more or less do what he likes so long as he is not wrecking his body and losing fitness.

If Torres was tweeting during a run of goalscoring nobody would bat an eye.

I think we should just focus on Babel the footballer and for me we have wasted a real talent by shite management from both Benitez and Hodgson who are both more obsessed with stopping the opposition playing than concentrating on what we can do in possession.

Reade has a point though, Babel has failed to live up to his potential and clearly doesn't have the appetite needed to succeed at the highest level.

One point on Babel and Twitter. What I find crazy and unbelievable is people giving him stick for spending his free time on Twitter - it's actually a GOOD thing. One of my mates was a premieshio footballer (mainly reserve team) but he would say that footballer have a lot of free time...which is why so many play golf to take the time up. Given constraints on the body typically training was only for a couple of hours a day. Hence so many players ended up in the boozer cos of all the fred tome. With Babel he doesn't go out drinking like other footballers (he is tee-total), he isn't found leaving clubs at 3am like always injured ledley king, he isn't a gambling addict like some....all he does is write messages on Twitter. It's a bloody good thing that he is on the straight and narrow but people rag him for it - maybe he should be beating people up like Andy carrol instead.

good points.

babel has alot of (failed so far)potential and has yet to live up to it,but to slate the guy off for comments made on twitter is a bit pathetic and childish.

i have a lot of time for brian reade and i do read a lot of what he writes but this is just more media bullshit that we have come to expect from people who have nothing to do with this great club of ours, but to read this from brian reade has shocked me

Watched Babel for a couple of years now to know the score:

We'll see the best of him (when played) in the next few weeks BECAUSE the transfer window is coming up. And if an offer doesn't come in, then he'll state there's 'no way' he wants to leave Liverpool. Eventually, if he runs his contract down it'd be in his best interest.

You will be if you don't perform tonight son! Last chance saloon me thinks... This is what he's been waiting for, ASKING for; a starting role as an out and out striker, a direct replacement for Torres! If you don't take your chance tonight Babel you can't have any more complaints or excuses, you'll be out on your arse in January

P.S. Best of luck!  ;)

and yet a good performance could change so much.

A goal and an assist in a 3- 0 win could lead to another start and change in the entire direction of his career.

Yeah sometimes... although like I said after the previous time he played (and got an assist), he seems to actually do it pretty regularly for someone who doesn't play that much.

But no, Babel's shite...

He's got a terrible attitude and only ever scores when the ball hits him when he's stood still tweeting?

...or maybe he's a good, talented young lad who hasnt been given a fair crack of the whip, and this along with the performance on thursday is what he's capable of.

90% of the time he has been on the pitch this season he has looked up for it and played well

Just a shame the sample I am basing this on is so small so far but this is the way to change that

The key is backing him now giving him a run of 10 games even if his next game is utter shite he just needs a manager who has faith in him, then lets see what he can do if he still fucks it up i'll have no complaints.

We know he won't get a run of starts though so the same discussion will continue about whether he's good enough or not and what would have happened had he been given a run of matches, which he won't get and the same discussion... oh wait.
