Torres in the reseves then Fordy?

To be honest I would of put Torres and Cole on the bench against Northampton at least as both need match time.

Torres has been shocking so far this season but he has an excuse and at cause he has been out injured.

But I wouldnt make any player an expection to the rule.

No more apologies or second chances, its over for Babel. Football has changed a lot these days but not that much, you only get so many chances to impress at LFC before someone else steps in.

If Babel is atrocious,Jova and Maxi arent far behind.Hate to say it,but none of those deserve a place in the team now.But of course, one would play atleast, until Dirk Returns. In that case,id want Babel, just because of his ability(although he isnt showing it).
These are tough times, and if someone can step up,he'd be a hero for a long long time.

He's finished

This

Maybe just encase him in that stuff they got Han Solo with and then wheel him out as a warning to any 'promising youngster'

and this.

its funny isnt it?

how many chances did babel get against northampton? who's job is it to create?

fact is, he had no chances, we sat deep, and he was ineffective as a result. most of his passing had to be backwards. who gives a shit if he was offside sometimes, at least he was in an attacking position.

we are a narrow football club. and this is the reason why babel should leave. he has to learn to play in a congested area. not arsed anymore. i think he should be given a game on the right hand side. remember, already this season he's played twice upfront, scored once, and played left hand side too.

would i sell him? probably, but do i think he's had it tough? yes. he cannot do it all by himself. football is a team game. i blame other players for the northampton performance, but mostly the managers inept tactics.

I suspect he might have done rather better with the starting XI were he to have swapped places with Pacheco, with Pacheco as the little man in big man-little man striking combination, and Babel as the classical quick winger. As with most of this season though, the personnel picked didn't fit the system picked.

Every fan should give a shit if he is repeatedly offside because he hasn't timed a run properly or positioned himself properly to take advantage of a forward ball that could have been the very chance you say he didn't get. It is very important.

fully agree. and its a shame, because those players are better than that. i truly believe that they have a future here. all of them.

its important granted, but, with this new offside, active/not active rule, its okay to be offside in a certain phase of play. i know, im probably making excuses for him not being the ruud van nistelrooy he's supposed to be. overall, he did fail because we were knocked out.

Babel-Lovers, defend this.

1) Agger passes to Jovanovic.  Note where Babel is and where NGog is and, indeed, where the ref is.

2) Ball in net.  Now note just how far Babel has run to support Jovanovic, compared to NGog.
Indeed, just one person in the box to help Jova, despite all those players on the halfway line and beyond in the first picture.

The fact is that he's just not very good, has never really looked like fulfilling his potential (outside of a few flashes) and he probably won't be here after next summer.

And I care if he was offside a few times. If he can't learn to time his runs against Northampton Town, how on earth is he going to cope against top level defenders?

excellent point there mate. he should have either been directly behind jova or on the penalty spot.

i have not said he was excellent against northampton, and anticipation does seem to be his weakest trait. quite often, he's was static but open to a pass. too often he expects the pass first, to chase it from a standing start, rather than make the run to be spotted for a pass. its possibly the reason why he's not played more.

like i said before, not arsed whether he stays or goes anymore, i've personally not seen any potential for babel to be a striker, but always wanted to see him on the right as a classic winger.

what is the problem with Babel in this picture?  He is running towards where the ball is.  Northampton marked him closer because of his speed, Ngog had a bit of room because its easy to close him down.

...dont forget to put those where he was the only one in the box when kelly or pacheco was "crossing" the ball as well ;)

i think babel makes a great super sub, however hes just never given a few games in a row to build up a head of steam.

anyway, after the northampton game hes let himself and the the whole club down by looking like the most lazy and disinterested player on earth. want him out now, was a disgrace.
- all in my opinion of course -

You being serious?

Sometimes I have to question is people leave their footballing brain else where when posting on here.

Yes its up to midfielders to create but sometimes that cant be done. Why? Well due to movement.

Did you watch the northampton game? Did you go to the match?

Well if the answer if yes to either question then you should realise that Babel was running off side, his off the ball movement was poor and wasnt creating space for midfielders to run into.

They were times when Spearing had the ball and it was like a kid telling a father how to do something. Its was shameful. Spearing was telling him to come back on side. It was basic stuff. School boy stuff he was getting wrong.

How anyone can defend him after watching him against Northampton is beyond me.

Is there a point your trying to make or are we just naming 2 teams from dffrent leagues and comparing them?

You being serious?

Are you?

Do you think us losing to Northampton had everything to do with Babel's movement? One player?

That is the point I'm trying to make, there was a lot wrong about the Northampton performance as a team (or lack thereof), but it wasn't solely Babel's fault.

Wouldn't have selected him again after his performance at Sunderland away last season.  He's just another 'not good enough journeyman footballer on the payroll at Anfield' who is happy to sit on the bench and take his money for doing fuck all.

Too right. He's good enough to play on our left hand side imo, switch Cole to middle and Gerrard and Meireles(Lucas) in the middle but guess that's too attacking for us.

There's a documentary on bbc 1 now about whether 'professionalism' in terms of coaching and sports science etc and not twitter or rapping before you start. Just made me wonder about Ryan. Another Ryan, Giggs this time was talking about how when you first break through you're told to do what you were doing at youth and reserve level, your natural game, based on instict. Then as you establish yourself people can be overly coached and loose that element of their game because they over think or are crippled by said coaching. Remind you of anyone? Not making excuses for him, just thought it might provoke a decent discussion as the Babel we signed is clearly different to the one we find ourselves with now.

Why does he give sarcastic answers to people asking genuine questions on twitter. I hate him. He's jus retweeted me calling him a sarcastic fucker and missed out the bit where I said it was because he gave sarcastic answers to people asking things like "are you fit now?" the sooner he's sold the fucking better. Talentless twerp.

If you don't like what he says don't follow him or message him.. simples
