is b12 lars sandberg aka funk d'void?
Steve Rutter was/is the main fella I believe. They've got a relatively new album out (2008) called Last Days of Silence, but I haven't heard it.

of course 'who's the bad man?' was another classic out of hard hands who also, of course, gave us leftfield.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNiYtQEER8Q

Never bought that much house/techno vinyl (it was all indie/subpop vinyl for me back then or house/techno sets taped off the radio) then CDs took over...but just had a look and found Ive got this (Rumour Records) with that Doc Patten track on. Excellent stuff. Its got Leftfield's Song of Life on too. Nice.

Has just came back from doing the season in Ibiza, unfortunatly couldn't stay untill the closings with uni and all that shit, but maybe looking on going back for space closing.

One of the tunes from Ibiza 2010 is this...Butch - No Worries

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mYtdPLyydk

There a lot more tunes that have been played in all the main underground nights (kehakuma, dc10, cocoon) that I'll have to post in the next few days.

Also a tune that I had forgot about and gladly was reminded after seeing Sven Vath is this tune, brilliant!

gents i'm cooking dinner at the minute - roast chicken with roast beetroot and, of course roast spuds with a salad on the side - but the kabale und liebe track reminded me of their astonishing debut  'mumbilng yeah'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMILA_iwj0I

i first heard lazarus play it at the panorama bar and it literally rocked my world.  like this it riffs on the nearly heard vocal though have to say i'm loving this new one not least as we've been posting old murk tracks above and their track as the fog 'been a long time' is one of the all time greats.

Sorry, no 320 that. The Bills Bills Bills and A Milli remixes have been released on white label, I'll give you a heads up when I locate it though.

Here is a track I only heard recently and managed to locate; from Pritchard and Middleton under their Secret Ingredients guise.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KB4GvOzX-Ds

and the original sample which certainly has its merits;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLQQcirULpw

actually crafty beer break as mummy beans finishes the wee mans bath ;D

dave - on the same link you can see that track one on that side is the mood II swing dub of bt 'tomorrow'.  much more my cup of tea.  the drums are always definite with messrs cifaone and springsteen this is tight as the proverbial nun's c*nt:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkF3D5cDcyw

if you haven't already check out their mix of sylk 130 'when the dub hits the fan' - BIG.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1sNI7OxNhI

also anything else they've dubbed really including the westworld side project cifaone did.  very big across the underground board back in the mid-90s.

i hadn't spotted the roy ayers sample - bad johnny - which is madness as this is classic from the big man.  another great sunshine record when you've been up all night.

interesting to see it listed on a trance compilation but they were crazy mixed up times.  when the germans were taking things off in a hideously melodic direction the hard hands boys were toughening up the drums and tribal vibe.  actually its the pursuit of the perfect drum noise that broke leftfied up with paul daley having none of the reunion thing.

interesting how things come full circle with the germans pretty much running things for the past five years in terms of club and the vibe in ibiza through dc-10 and coccoon.  at least for forward thinking types like ourselves ;D

a decidedly jacking feel to the butch track makes me think of derrick carter in his pomp - about 95.  this could have been a dj sneak track on cadjual or relief and that's definitely not a bad thing.

die vogel.  big room oompah techno from the krauts.  its in the same ball park as some of the villalobos ethnic brass excursions but still altogether BIG ROOM.  i can see the drindel bursting cleavages of a munich beer keller as i type ;D

what was the vibe at dc-10 like this year?  i know  they've slowed things right down and trusted to the influence of younger djs like seth, jamie and dyed but i also heard that luciano had been packing them in with a massive residency at pacha.  the underground going mainstream.  fair play to him.  he's not been the same since he got his stomach ulcer.

They're calling dc10 the new era, yeah with the likes of seth troxler, jamie jones and that coming through. Tania Vulcano and Cassy were smashing it when I went. I'd say dc10 is the only sort of big club that is still underground, not relying on big names bringing the crowds in. Supposdly on the dc10 birthday loco dice and villalobos was supposed to play but was all rumours, I'm a big fan of David Squillace etc..it's all very deeper, slower stuff. I love it though.

Yeah also went to see Luciano at pacha, was a good set but not overly massive, played butch - worries and a few others but was a less underground than the Luciano a couple of years ago..a lot less minimaly.

Although his tune conspirer is awesome.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b474ISs_j7I

PS. that Loco Dice remixed tune you sent me is awesome, nice one.

I can't think of a bad tune by Ramadanman, or anything released by Hessle Audio (while this isn't on Hessle) in fact. Look out for the next Hessle release and debut from Elgato, Blue, very deep.

Seen the Hessle bunch a lot in the last few years as they all went to Leeds Uni the same time as myself. Ruffage at Wire was not to be missed.

Here is a good blog for that sort of sound;

Umeks absolutly smashing it at the minute, video of him on dancetrippin.tv playing on carl cox's night absoulutly rips it up.

Also shout out to local lad Yousef, he ripped the terrace at space opening to bits, I was there and one of the best sets of the night, everyone was having it. Also he smashed dc10 and been a resident tuesdays at space (carl cox's night). Also the circus line ups for this autumn/winter are unbelievable.

blimey a busy day in the thread gents i will hit you all back later when i get chance to check out all the links.  particularly looking forward to the umek version of 'the chase' as its an all time hassinator fave.  there was a double a side white label from way back in - i think - 95 that had a sneak track on one side where he riffed on the samuel jackson speech from pulp fiction.  superb.  the other side however had what i thought was a glenn underground remix of 'i feel love' over the top of 'the chase' that's pretty much peak time amazatron.  i think since then that people are saying sneak did them both but whatever its a killer record.

EDIT: according to youtube its glenn underground 'i feel dub'.  stick it in em.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WocagR84RRU - Masters At Work feat India - When You Touch Me

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVQv1mEGqY4  - dj disciple - keep on movin

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XNgHrbtiao - Efdemin - Bergwein

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBlVPB5VnDY  - Victor Dynagroove Ensemble - Elevator 1993

the ramadanman track is really interesting.  i'm reading the blurb and its telling me that its house fused with dub step but to me it just sounds like a very subtle variation on some of the minimal djs i've been enjoying over the past few years.  atmospheric, moody but definitely not trying too hard though of course i can hear where its coming from.  really interesting though the breakdown is perhaps a little over cooked for my current taste.  its a bit like a ufo taking off but still a lazy house work out to finish really works.

smokin beats track = haus dip.  this sounds like summer 93/94.  endless house work outs from kerri chandler very much hit the same spot.  nothing wrong with that at all by the way.

masters at work track is a proper work out.  i loved india's vocals at the time but there was such an overload of them at ministry of sound when it first opened that they now grate for me ever so slightly.  i love the US garage sound initially but it became so fucking worthy when there was so much more interesting stuff happening - for me anyway - at wiggle with terry francis and eddy richards tearing it up.  they would head straight for the dub on things like this and then pitch it up to make it meet in the middle with pitched down techno records.  hence tech house but before it became so codified in rigid snare patterns.

i noticed this MK dub of 'can't get no sleep' on the same page and i always preferred his more sparse arrangements:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hClZEdShB9M&feature=related

the dj disciple track is interesting.  he became a resident at the zap club when i moved away from brighton about 93.  again that more driving vibe is more up my street.  interesting that you're so digging the deep house stuff.  why is it so much in the air again?

i thought the efedemin track was actually called 'bergheim' after the club in berlin.  its classic.  very detroit and wonderfully understated and melancholic.  more please.

dynagroove.  more haus dip.  i will have a ponder - and a crafty spliff - then come back with some more suggestions in this vein ;D

its very weird to see how fresh 90s house is sounding to a new audience.  it was dying a death at that point in real time.  there were 'house is dead' headlines in mixmag and to be fair i thought it was for a long time but it was just going underground and actually moving away from a sound that had been reduced to functional with this kind of sound.  grant nelson literally churned this sort of stuff out which always sounded excellent in the moment but i never expected it to stand the test of time or indeed be re-examined 20 years later.  still let me get my head round it and come back ;D

I do think it has made a difference that I didn't hear many of the tracks the first time round, having just turned 23, as I have placed them within a different context to that they were originally, given what they are now mixed with within a set.

The more I find older tracks and acts the more I can observe the obvious influences of contemporary tracks, which I always find interesting.

best played at 4pm when you've been up all night and the red arrows are doing an unexpected display over le jardin ;)

this a superlative set from superpitcher from the ever excellent resident advisor site.  similarly chilled to start with this is a high class workout from one of kompakt's very best:

http://www.residentadvisor.net/podcast-episode.aspx?id=223

The Cologne dandy presents a bewitching mix of voodoo house and techno.

There are few producers who embody the spirit of the Kompakt label more than Aksel Schaufler. Over the past decade, his Superpitcher output has cemented his place as one of the label's most enduring artists, covering schaffel, micro house, stomping Cologne techno and, of course, his own brand of dreamily emotive electronic pop.

Although he's proved himself to be adept at creating driving, club-ready anthems for the Kompakt Extra sub-label, his forays into the album format have seen Schaufler demonstrate his keen ear for a killer pop hook. Here Comes Love's brooding vocal techno was well received by rock and electronic audiences alike, while his Supermayer project with Kompakt co-founder Michael Mayer saw him continue to blur genre boundaries in a wonderfully oddball manner. His sophomore solo full-length, Kilimanjaro, is due for release this week, and showcases a slighty more jaunty vibe than the lush melancholia of its predecessor. Those of you who are looking for a preview can check out a couple of its inclusions on his self-described "voodoo" mix for this week's RA podcast.

What have you been up to recently?

I was touring a lot recently and just found the time to allow myself the luxury of a little vacation. I've begun to work on the dub versions of my new album, Kilimanjaro, during that time. It feels great to destroy everything and strip it down. I've always been impressed by this technique which was brought to perfection by the geniuses of King Tubby, Lee Perry, etc. who took amazing, beautiful songs and changed them radically into music that sounds like it comes from outer space, just by leaving everything out and adding crazy effects. I've also been doing a lot of press which is the hardest thing for me to do.

Can you tell us a bit more about Kilimanjaro? You mentioned there were more live instruments and singing in it. Have you been able to put together a band to take it on the road?

Kilimanjaro is a place in my mind, a place where you can go, find peace or get really lost. It's a place with tons of energy and vibrations, a place in Africa, a place wherever you are. The mountain of fear, a place where you eventually find yourself...

I'm spending a lot of time putting together a band, it's something I've been thinking about for many years. It's just so difficult because the context of a club is kind of limited, so it must be super compact and, of course, super fresh. Also it must look super flashy. I hope we will be ready for next year.

Where and how was the mix recorded?

The mix was recorded at home, last minute, because I was on the road for weeks. I used two turntables, one CD player, a looper and a little effects tool. It was a dark night.

Can you tell us a little about the idea behind the mix?

Voodoo!

What are you up to next?

Producing a Pachanga Boys record and doodling with my poodles.

I've managed to scratch the surface if jazz, soul and R&B by looking at samples used in hip-hop, always a fun way to waste a day.

that 'drop like its not' find rocked my world.  i dislike hip hop as i felt it stopped progressing after about 93 and i don't like the general sense of values that seem to come with it.  still when you hear such an imaginative and moody re-imagining its hard not to feel like i've been missing the point with some other artists too.  nicholas jaar is doing some really interesting work in that area and i'm loving the fact that he; jamie jones; dyed and seth are so into slowing things down these days it just makes for an all round sexier sound and you've got to have love for the ladies.  still there's only so many hours in the day and i have a month old mini-hass to look after so i look forward to more recommends from your bad self.

btw give that superpitcher spin a chance.  very much in the haus deep spectrum but with a wonderfully germanic; lsd flavour that really tickles my fancy.  not scared of a melody either albeit fragmented he and michael mayer have made some of the best records in the world over the past few years.

I would say most of the hiphop I listen to has emanated from the 90's, but there are still some good acts about, they are just harder to find.

I think even those not into hiphop can appreciate production from the likes of J Dilla;

Anyway, back to house and techno-esque stuff.

Copped it, will give a go while going for a jog.

following on from the isolee remix of mickey moonlight i thought it might be interesting to draw the collective attention to some of his early, similarly perfect records not least his stunning debut on playhouse 'beau mot plage.'  i first heard this record through the uk house label classic - they had a reciprocal tie up with our german cousins - but this was definitely a german find and with the benefit of hindsight - which is always 20:20 - its clear to see that this was a harbinger of the german electronic renaissance.  a superb record that has been remixed to fuck but never better than the stark, mealncholic genius of the original:

OK, heard a remix of a house tune on radio 1 the other week with a sample from anchorman in it. They said its coming out in about a month. Does anyone know what this is? Doing my head in.

Kanji Kinetic - The Buffalo has it in it... so does Noisia & Phace - Cannonball though... probably the former, though it's a bit bassline house...
