I need a little cash to buy a horse, so rode out of town, put some bait down and killed a few deer. Before I could skin them, a man came up to me about his wife being kidnapped, so I went and saved her, couldn't find the deer again. But while looking a couple of wolves wandered into my path, so got those (a nice $84 or so for each one when traded in) and went back to town. Bought my nice new horse, and then a man come up to me saying he'd just been robbed. So I chased the robber, decided I'd lasso. He was close to a couple of other people and I accidently got one of the other people. I continued after the robber, lassoed him. Before I could hogtie, the person I got accidently runs up to me and starts punching. Can't hogtie while being punched, so I had to let the robber go, who then shoots me dead while I'm being punched and before I could switch weapons. So I died and it was all for nothing :(

Stop making me want this game..I might just buy it and not eat for a few days..

Just got my lasso, decided to give it a try on a person, found an innocent bloke riding with his mate, dragged him off his horse. Hogtied him,put him on my horse...
Right wheres the train tracks, luckily a train was close by,so I got ahead of it.
Now my plan was to stop my horse on the track so I could do the plan quicker then move the horse...so I go to get him off to lay him down on the track...
Didnt realise how slow the cut scene was of getting him off the horse.
R.I.P me,the bloke and my horse.

If you break a horse in the wild, you can buy it from the general store (the deeds), if your horse then dies, you can go into the satchel and press on the deed again, and you'll get another horse of the same kind. So you only pay the money once, for unlimited horses of that kind.

I think the only thing that could make this game better would be having the table games online, with your winnings going back to your story account. That would be immense.

I'm terrible at cheating with the gents suit, but the upside is you get as many duels as you could want if you're caught.

Stop making me want this game..I might just buy it and not eat for a few days..

Get it. You can hunt in game eat virtual food.

Game is awesome. About 45% of the way through now, most of that is the story though, haven't bothered with any of the side-mission stuff like strangers.

Just hit $1000 as well.

Poker is amazing, won a 2100 chip hand to win a game when I only had 100 chips left :D

Yep there isn't enough to do on the free roam mode imo. You could just have a money system on free roam

Not done much, just started and did the first lasso 'mission'. Did it, gave the horse I tamed to Pa MacFarlane, then when I got on my own horse to follow Bonnie it said mission failed, apparently I 'abandoned the herd'. Twat

I've not done all that much of the story yet, only just
Spoiler
saved the horses in bonnies barn when it was burning.
[close]

but i've played it for about 10 hours. I get very sidetracked with side missions, always happened in gta and knew it was going to be like this. I've been really enjoying the random duels.

Did get a touch annoyed (for about 3 seconds). Firstly, thought i was helping some lawmen catch a crook when riding about. Turns out i was gunning down the police. Bounty of $500 before i knew it for simply defending myself after an honest mistake. So i'v been doing bounty hunting and other small missions to bring down the bounty. Took a while, but worked it all off, saved up and bought a new rifle for $130. Then immediatly did a story mission and it fucking gives you the same gun. Called the game a c*nt. Then told it i was sorry and i didn't mean it. We're back together now ;D

Oh and....
oh btw online is fucking amazing.
is spot on. Got on with a mate of mine from the uk last night for a few hours. Fucking brilliant! so much fun to be had and that was only in the free roam. This is the first game i'm even considering doing some competitive multiplayer matches (when i'm a bit better at the whole shooting thing)

Brilliant from Rockstar this. Utterly fucking brilliant.

I cracked at the last. Logged onto Tesco, found their shop on Allerton Road was open til 12, drove down there - and they've sold out of Xbox 360 versions.

Still some crappy PS3 bloody versions there though: Typical!

What a fucking game. Intended to do a couple of story missions for an hour or so. Ended up spending 4 hours hunting, bounty-hunting, stranger-helping, kidnap-foiling, hideout-clearing, treasure-seeking, horseshoe-throwing, duel-winning, house-buying, herb-collecting, bird-shooting, item-selling and more.

So much to do, and such a beautiful setting in which to do it. Game of the Year so far without a doubt

Nothing will come close. The only other game i'm even remotely interested in is portal 2 later this year, but honestly, unless they go utterly fucking mad with that game, there's no chance of anything beating this for game of the year on the xbox or ps3

and he might not ever appear, there is a glitch with the assassin outfit, everyone is having problems with it, I just get wanted poster with a question mark on it now because I've ran out of named bountys, Rockstar know about this and are trying to find a way to fix it.

I personally think Mass Effect 2 will be and the majority of sites will probably agree, with some going for RDR. It's an excellent game, but ME2 just grabbed me by the balls more. Two completely different games, though. Apples and oranges and all that. Tough one to decide on.

Mass Effect 2 and GOW 3 are at the top of my GOTY list so far this year, with ME2 edging it because Sci-fi when its done well is the best thing ever. No doubt Mario Galaxy 2 will be right up there too and it will probably win it- so far its charmed reviewers into giving it 10/10's and other high scores across the board. RDR definitely deserves to be up there on the basis of the wonderful world they've created, have avoided doing the main storyline (aside from 4 or 5 missions) and I've been completely absorbed into it; hunting animals, catching criminals, collecting flowers, playing Texas Hold'em and completing stranger missions have all been excellent.

Really tempted to get this, but not liking how everyone's already near the end so soon
"You have to admire animals. Hamster spun round in a wheel three times bigger than him and abruptly lands on his back. Then just gets up and carries on as if nothing happened! If that was a human he'd be helicoptered to hospital, off work for 6 months have back issues for 20 years and then start legal proceedings against the wheels owner"
