multiple world champs left on one side vs 3 blokes who've never even made the final. 2 of who are qualifiers.

Williams' level has definitely dropped since yesterday but full credit to Ronnie for his performance here. Sets up the final session perfectly.

Thought Williams was going to run away with it after winning that first frame of the session on the final black followed by Ronnie nearly potting the blue from the break off in the second ;D

Williams would have been desperate for that interval. Ronnie was shoving that snooker cue up his arse, metaphorically speaking.

Not a fan of the containing safeties
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Really entertaining match that with some brilliant break building and safety play but also some bizarre misses from both players. Ronnie was 11-4 for frames played today :o

Bit of a hammering that!

You got to think the winner will come from his semi.  Can't see the others beating either him or Selby.

Selby has a good record against him, shame it isn't the final really.

He is one of the nicest people you could ever meet a really genuine fella. His interviews are just firmly tongue in cheek. He is box office and is a bit like a boxer trash talking. It makes headlines and promotes the sport.

That one interview and McGill-Clarke has probably produced more media coverage than the rest of the tournament put together.

Yes I understand that mate but I just wish he'd come out and say 'I really enjoyed that' or 'I'm really happy with how I played' every now and again. It just seems to be him against the sport at times and although I get that it gets the sport coverage, is it really good coverage? One of the best players ever saying that he doesn't enjoy it, only plays to make a living and thinks the youngsters are crap? It's hardly role model stuff is it?
We’ll still finish in top four - and they won’t. You can quote me on this in May.

So semi final lineup confirmed, 2 world champions (8 titles in total) in 1 half & 2 who have made the semi final once between them.

Wilson vs McGill

O'Sullivan vs Selby

Only 8 centuries in the quarter finals (in 88 frames) & O'Sullivan/Williams game made 6 (5 for Ronnie, 1 for Williams).  O'Sullivan now well clear of the most centuries scored (9 vs 4 for Selby, 3 for Wilson & none for McGill).  McGill has had 24 breaks of 50+, & 2 in the 90s (both 92) in 67 frames.

The Crucible curse for returning champions strikes again, the 18th time since was at the Crucible that a 1st time returning champion wasn't able to defend his crown.

Unlikely to beat the 100 century record from last year, 81 last year up to the semis vs 69 for this year.

Got to go with Wilson in the top half & will depend if O'Sullivan is drawn into a safety battle vs Selby.  I hope O'Sullivan wins his 6th.

I know you can only beat what’s in front of you, but this has got to be one of the worst semi finals for quite some time.

It’s like the beeb knew too since they chucked on a segment about the Dott/Ebdon Final

He is just too honest at times. We have become accustomed to media trained sportsmen trotting out the same platitudes. That blue he missed was an absolute shocker, and he didn't try and hide from it. His cue action is way more erratic than it used to be. As he said he is surviving because of his unbelievable cue ball control. Once in amongst the balls he is still a joy to behold.

As for the standards he is bang on the money. At his age his physical powers especially his eyesight should have faded to such a degree that he shouldn't be blowing away players. To put it in to perspective Hendry was 30 when he won his last World title. Davis was 31 when he won his last title at the Crucible. Ronnie is 44 and Mark Williams won it at the age of 43.

It reminds me of Tennis with the likes of Djokovic, Nadal and Federer still dominating way past their sell by date.

Ronnie has just said what everyone else has been thinking. McGill or Wilson in the final is a joke. Personally I think it is down to players being over coached from an early age. Snooker has created a load of clones with perfect techniques but very little feel or touch. Hopefully Trump kicks on and dominates.
