So, Ole, the master of man management, you tell your players, we have got to get 15 points from our next 7 games to get top 4......

Not, one game at a time, not, win every game... but lose two and win 5, or win 4, draw 3, we're there.

Let me just think about that.....

Lose to City, beat Leicester, beat Chelsea, beat Huddersfield and Cardiff....hang on

Draw with City, lose to Leicester, beat Chelsea, Huddersfield and Cardiff....wait

beat City, draw with Leicester, lose to Chelsea, beat Huddersfield and Cardiff.....

 :duh.....
...If you can meet with triumph and disaster

Right, we need them gaining some momentum now. Getting some confidence. We probably need them to win all their games in the league before playing City. We don't want them beating Barca, as it doesn't benefit us at all - the opposite, in fact, they would likely save themselves for the final. A narrow loss to Barca with the press praising Ole's brave boys should be enough to keep the hope up.

After taking points of City, they can go back to losing games.  :wave

We have seen how Chelsea have changed since Michael Emenalo’s departure. At Chelsea, there seemed to be a transfer policy that was very clear, bringing in young players such as Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne, who have gone on to do great things. Emenalo was responsible for many of those signings and was a steady force for many years. But when he left, the club seemed to lose its sense of direction.

Sorry, what? Is Chelsea's "buy all the highly rated young players, find no space for them, send them out on loan, then sell them on and watch as some of them flourish elsewhere" part of their old or new direction?

Utter tripe...

But I'd whole heartedly agree with the Neville appointment. Hell, get the whole class of '92 involved in the set up. Scholes as physio. Butt as chief scout. Giggs can have a special responsibility for playing away, etc.

There are many women within football now who are a credit to the game. And who talk more sense than a lot of the male pundits and male football journalists. Been a big narrative change with many of their fans.

When Mourinho was there, they had a good squad, that was badly coached. Now that very same squad isn't good enough to compete for the top 4.

All this bollocks about the "Class of' 92", would have you thinking it was something comparable to the Busquets, Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Pique line of talent that all emerged in roughly the same era, and not two crap fullbacks, a good but vastly overrated midfielder (Scholes), a bang average one (Butt), and a winger that made his debut in the first team a full year earlier.

Xavi is 39 and Busquets is 30, so while it is ridiculous to compare the class of 92 to these Barcelona players in terms of quality, it's also a bit ridiculous to think all those Barca players came through at once.

Getting back to current day United, we should really be crossing our fingers that they are still there or there-abouts for top by the time they play City. I'm less confident of that now than I was a month ago - they could could completely collapse. I think Utd and Chelsea finishing top 4 would really help us next season.

Getting back to current day United, we should really be crossing our fingers that they are still there or there-abouts for top by the time they play City. I'm less confident of that now than I was a month ago - they could could completely collapse. I think Utd and Chelsea finishing top 4 would really help us next season.

Why do people keep saying this? sounds like it's months away when in fact they only have 2 league games before then, home to West Ham and away to Everton, the Barcelona games are in-between which hopefully they'll lose with a couple of "brave" performances, in the same period Arsenal have to go to Everton which they're more than capable of dropping points in, Chelsea come here and Spurs go to City (if Spurs get something then United v City isn't as important anyway but the more points dropped the better) so doubt they'll be massively adrift of 4th by the time they play City plus hopefully they're out of Europe by then and need to try and get in the top 4

I'd also say United & Chelsea finishing in the top 4 wouldn't be a massive benefit, United will still spunk a fortune anyway, Chelsea may well be banned from signing anyone, Arsenal & Spurs being stronger might be a benefit though as the more teams capable of standing up to City the better, the authorities will more than likely do fuck all about them and 95+ points a season is unsustainable for most clubs apart from them

Surprisingly, Pogba now wants pay parity with Sanchez.

Xavi is 39 and Busquets is 30, so while it is ridiculous to compare the class of 92 to these Barcelona players in terms of quality, it's also a bit ridiculous to think all those Barca players came through at once.

You must have missed the part where I said "era".

You must have missed the part where I said "era".

All I am saying is, its not a fair comparison on either count. That Barca group of players are all-time greats, but spread over nearly 10 years. The United group only really had 1-2 max players who were ever world class at any point (Scholes and maybe Giggs & Beckham for a small time during their career, also G Neville was as good a RB as the PL had in those days - the position has changed a lot since then), but they all played in the same youth team.

Its like saying Fowler, Owen, Carra and Gerrard all came through at the same time. Same era yes.

Incorrect. United could EASILY blow up and drop 4+ points before the City league game, by which point it would be CL or bust for Utd. That's the concern I expressed. United's form is through the floor whereas Arsenal are flying for starters.

And you repeated exactly what I said about top 4 - it doesn't really matter for Chelsea and United because their spending power is not strongly linked to the CL. But Spurs & Arsenal's is. So if Utd and Chelsea finish top 4, we get two teams strengthening in the summer, with Arsenal and Spurs struggling. But if both North London clubs finish top 4, then we have 4 teams strengthening - IMO.
