started listening to

True Geordie

started as the 'the guy that ranted on youtube'

now he has developed things and is a pretty good long form interviewer. it does keep it a bit real as it still has lots of unpolished amateur about it

other long form interviews are Brian Rose on London Real

Dirty John is a good listen. From the LA Times, its a six part true story about a con artist. I'm only two episodes in, but it's a good listen so far, and I think things are going to get alot worse than the con game.

he seems a cannie lad who isnt trying to be anything else other than who he is

says he got 300,000 youtube followers just using his iphone making appaling quality clips

now seems well on his way to making real money from youtube which i assume to be from ad click monies

Listened to that the other week. Was decent. If a little slow. I mean you could tell what was going to happen about 2 or 3 episodes in.

Has anyone posted up Frankie Boyle`s "The Promethiad" podcast(s)? Sorry If I missed it.

This is in two chunks:

A 45 minute stand-up and a 5 hour collection of him reading his columns for The Guardian from the last couple of years. Some cracking one-liners in there.

Stay Tuned With Preet is my favourite podcast at the moment. As the former DA for New York he has great knowledge of the law and gives really good insight into the whole Mueller/Trump/Russia investigation, and has really high quality guests. The episodes with Bill Browder and Anne Milgram are particularly interesting.

And on a slightly less serious note it's great to see Atletico mince back again :D

Also, confirm that Preet Bahara`s podcast is very good.

Haha I'm exactly the same. Been listening to both Mon/Thurs for a few months now, just zone out when he's talking about hand egg. He mentioned Liverpool briefly after we beat Man City but then got immediately sidetracked by some american football on the telly. I imagine he'd be really great to listen to if he was passionate about our footy as he is on theirs. He's looking for a team to support - FSG still own the Redsox right?  8)

I know it might be a bit niche, but don't suppose anyone can help?  I use Podcast Addict to listen to mine and I've had The Steve Austin Show and The Steve Austin Show - Unleashed both on my feed.  I'm guessing they've consolidated them but because I'm way behind in my listening I've now got a lot of duplicates in my playlist.  Don't suppose anyone knows which is the one to now get rid of?  I noticed in my iTunes that it says I'm no longer subscribed to one of them but fuck knows which one.

Can anyone recommend some true crime podcasts - preferably on the longer side of the spectrum? I've been a keen supporter of Sword and Scale for a long time now, but recently they've covered a lot of sex crimes/murders against children and I'm just not listening to shit like that. I think it's a misstep from them and I hope they change tack soon.

Have done the usuals like Criminal, Serial etc if it helps.

This sort of fits...but I'd recommend it to anyone. Slow Burn, it's about 9 episodes, covering Watergate. Other crime ones that deal with a single case are Accused, Up and Vanished and Atlanta Monster.

I also listen to My Favourite Murder, but that one definitely won't be to everyone's taste.

Currently listening to a brilliant series of Podcasts from the BBC World Service called 'The Assassination' - it details the build up, assassination and aftermath of the assassination of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto. Currently 8 episodes in.

Another good one is 'Casefile - True Crime' - Straight to the point. Facts rather than opinion. I like it.

I know what you mean about Sword and Scale - some episodes are just brutal. I remember listening to one about people use chat rooms for sex crimes and the transcripts were just too much. Also I find format lazy. Some episodes will just be really long transcripts or recordings. Also the host has been getting a lot of shit online from previous listeners. But I will let you make your mind up on that.

Sword and Scale is long off my listen to list to, the guy who runs it is an absolute arsehole. Some of the stuff on the Sword And Scale reddit about him is eyeopening!

Anyway, as for true crime, I tend to listen to one off episides type ones rather than series (although of course, I loved Serial).

Some of the ones I listen too are: In Sight, They Walk Among Us, The Vanished, The Trail Went Cold, Unresolved, Casefile.
My guilty pleasure crime podcast is All Killa No Filla, but that's really not for someone who wants something serious and deep  ;D
Crimes in Sport is meant to be good, but not got around to that one yet.

Article here has some others in too:

I read a little about the S&S guy. Has he done anything beyond demanding donations? Which is a twat move in itself.

there's all sorts of shit, just google reddit Sword and Scale and see the top post 'lets talk about Mike'. Some really dodgy and rather nasty stuff.

He's actually had a run ins and had a right go at the My Favourite Murder presenters as well. But that's like the lower level of the crap he's done.  He's upset a lot of people, including family members of people in the stores he tells.

Yeah check out All Killa. THe two ladies who present it are very funny, might be an aquired taste! They are comedians, one from Manchester, one from North Wales.  They both crack me up.

Listened to a casefile whilst walking the dog earlier - just what I was looking for. Solid hour long pods with a bit of meat to them. One of the alternative suggestions on the SAS reddit was True Crime Garage which I’ve got ready for my commute into work at midnight tonight...

Tried that one some time ago. Found it painful to listen to. From what I remember there is 2 or 3 hosts attempting and failing to be funny at every opportunity.

I just like true crime podcasts which tell me what happened and what the fall out was. Don't need opinion and conjecture.

I tried that S&S revisited or S&S extra or whatever it is called as I thought perhaps they could add something to the original story with new information or something. But it is just two American housewives making unintelligent comments about past S&S episodes. Load of shite.

I really like the presenting style of the woman who does Criminal (her name escapes me right now) but I just find a lot of their stories really boring or about some crime which happened 200 years ago!
