You would want someone appointed by June, so they can start working on targets etc.
So really only have 5 weeks.

Under normal circumstances, wasn’t it always around March Jurgen would finalise summer targets and Edwards would start putting the wheels in motion as soon as?

I wouldn’t be shocked if we’ve already made a few moves regardless of the manager situation, or if we do have a preferred candidate, whether that’s already tied up and he’s given his blessing. The strong rumour from the good Ukrainian journalist linking us with Sudakov, for example, I wouldn’t be shocked if we make a few moves like that regardless of who comes in. It would be the ‘main 11’ signings I imagine there’d be a bit of deliberation over, but my own view is that won’t be many unless there’s a few exits.

Make no mistake Edwards and and Hughes have got to get this appointment right. Get it wrong and it could set us back a long time. I'm not saying on the levels of utd. I do worry about the brave over popular comment.

All the serious rumours have been around quite young managers, so I'd be very surprised to see someone oldish. The club wants to build a new era.
That inevitably means someone less known and less experienced.
Other than that, I have no idea.

Eddie Howe, JT and Anthony Gordon holding red scarves up in the summer. I’m not sure the servers on here will be able to handle it.

Brilliant - that had me in hysterics.

What was it Ornstein said a few days back? That the recruitment are prepared to be 'unpopular' with the appointment?

If you think about it, if it's Howe, they can easily lay responsibility at the fans door when it goes tits up, saying we "never gave him a chance to succeed" when he inevitably fails.

He is 41 and won nothing.

He has a win % of less than 50%.

No one is going to be good enough for a lot on here whoever they pick. I will give whoever they choose a chance, as nobody knows how managers will do until they are in the hot seat.

Or we just get someone in for the short term?
Does it matter who comes in, really? He'll just have to keep the seat warm for Kloppo's return after his sabbatical. Or for Xavi.  ;D

We seem to be nervously waiting by the edge of the dancefloor, waiting to see who is left and hope one of them wanders over in our direction.  We need to go out and get a top quality manager, they probably won't be "available".

Hughes has shown that he likes his own team. He has brought in 3 or 4 of his team in senior positions. Whats to say he isnt pushing for someone he has worked with.

What’s uncomfortable is that we’re basically clearing out the entire back room. That has rarely worked well for other clubs in recent times (see Arsenal, Chelsea, United). Although you could argue it’s necessary, considering the spearhead is leaving.

Make no mistake - it’ll be a very different Liverpool next season. From the style of play, to coaching methods, to personalities. And that’s a wholly uncomfortable thought.

Not saying I'd want Potter, but is his reputation repairing itself on the basis that Poch is absolutely stinking the place out at Chelsea? Feels like people are backing off Potter now because the realisation has dawned that Chelsea is a circus, and there's more wrong with that place than just the manager.

Again, not advocating for Potter, just thinking out loud...

I do love all the names being thrown out all around the internet.  From the PL alone:  Emery, Howe, De Zerbi, O'Neil, Iraola, Frank; surprised no Marco Silva shouts

And then from abroad:  Hoeneß, Rose, Terzic, Slot, Conceição, Haise

And out of work (or likely out of work):  Xavi, Mourinho, Conte, Tuchel, Potter

I'm off to look at the League 1 Table and see who plays attacking football.

I for one wouldn’t give him a chance and I’ve only ever done that with one manager before.

I cant see him leaving Newcastle unless he is sacked though.

There’s no way Eddie Howe stays at Newcastle if his two mates at Liverpool want to get the band back together.

Newcastle are entering a period of change, Ashworth’s on gardening leave, the vultures will be circling for a few of their star players (Isak, Bruno) and there’s a good chance they’ll end up losing one if not both without CL football to keep them happy.

Howe doesn’t need an excuse to join Liverpool, the timing couldn’t be better on his part, he’s never getting them higher than he did last season and they’re probably not going to hit on another striker and midfielder like those two. Get out whilst your stock’s high and avoid another Bournemouth situation where it goes stale and your reputation takes a bit of a battering for it.

I hope you’re right, I hope he stays there and pens a new deal. I’d be beyond stunned if he put himself out of the running to manage us with two senior figures firmly in his corner.
