Yeah I don’t get it either, surely he isn’t 100% fit. If he gets another injury playing meaningless friendlies… :no

If he plays in that and gets injured then I think we'd have to sell him. Not on at all that putting country above club - especially where we are in the season.

Japans next game postponed so Endo is heading back early. Great news for us.

Good news indeed.
He only played 32 mins over this international break. Did not start in the first game either.

He quite clearly is. Elliot is basically at cheat code at that level.

On the plus side, the cheats and Arsenal have the same issue plus their European games are very difficult on paper.

Funny the difference between our fans and the Mancs.

They are all sucking England off and all dizzy with their players getting called up, whereas most of us are fucking gutted when ours get called up to play for those little-Englunder racist gobshites.

Yes, although saying that, it's somewhat perplexing Elliott hasn't had a call-up yet whereas one of theirs has a few games for them and all of a sudden Waistcoat wants him.

I agree, especially against the countries we've drawn in the U21 qualifiers; Azerbaijan, Luxembourg, Northern Ireland, Serbia and Ukraine.  All of those are countries that will fast-track any kids playing top-flight football straight into their senior teams so their U21s are even weaker than would otherwise be the case.

I'm never one to wish Southgate's influence on any of our players and especially so for Elliott as I don't think his role really exists within Southgate's set-up.  He's not going to be one of the two #6 midfielders (the dearth of which is why Hendo still gets a call and why Mainoo was added to the squad) and he's not going to oust Bellingham from the #8/#10 role.  Elliott is best as one of a pair of #8s but that's far too adventurous for Southgate.

Jones would be ahead of Elliott had he not been injured as he can play as one of the #6s as he did for the U21s when they won the Euros in the summer.

Honestly don't think its the most helpful thing having two weeks off to completely knacker your rhythm. I'm sure they're both feeling quite smug right now but that game straight after the break between them is going to have so many undercooked players.

Quansah remained on the bench.
I think Elliott only got 75 minutes, which is good, although he has had so many minutes for us over the last month.

Not sure what they get out of Elliott playing for the under 21s (results I guess)
How many of the senior England squad have been playing regularly in the CL & Europa League (this year)

Maybe he just enjoys playing football.

If anyone saw it, is Tyler Morton going to be an option for us?
He's sort of been forgotten about this year, with the performances of Clark, McConnell etc

Morton has more of a chance under someone like Alonso than Klopp, where our game will be more controlled, less hectic, and he wouldn't have to sprint all over the place and exposed his lack of physicality.  Think the management change has come at a good time for him.

Who started ahead of him?

Either way, he got some rest while being involved in the international set up which hopefully does him some good. Not that a few tips from Lee Carsley will develop his game faster than Jurgen could!

Always liked Morton from his 1st games in the side, you could see instantly he had the football brain to play at a high level, was just a case of if he would develop the physicality on top of that.

I think Morton could have a future at Liverpool. Last season he got used to the physicality of the Championship and this season he's became a more stand out player who can influence games. Bodes well for him going forward, even away from Liverpool he could have a good future. The reality is, he could have chipped in with us this season. He could really have played in every League Cup/FA Cup/Europa League game up to now, maybe used off the bench at times in the league. At the start of the season when we rebuilt the midfield you'd have thought otherwise but Thiago and Bajcetic have had 3 appearances between them going into April.
