He was a top 10 player and a multi time major semi finalist. That's better than average.
Agree. Henman was good. For a Brit he was very good.

There are so many people with such over-exaggerated angry feelings nowadays. Some of the language being used in this thread is incredible.

Come on !!

Amazing. Never thought I would see him win even one again after his injury. Genuinely so happy to see him win 2 in the one year. And one he hasn't won he didn't play :lmao

Physically.

Yep.

Probably not just nowadays though.

If we'd had social media when I was young in the 70s we'd  have seen worse. I'm a pretty calm person. I've never got some of the hatred people can work up over nothing.

Yeah, doesn't look like a physical injury to me. Looks like it was a mental collapse during the 2nd set.

Here we go then, Federer to serve for the Championship with new balls.

I still can't get over that the one year I had tickets to the semi finals and final, in 2010, Federer was beaten by Tomas fucking Berdych. My one chance to see him there.

And I thought he was on a downwards slide after that..

He has a blister, hardly enough to warrant all the fuss.

Unfortunately he just couldn't handle the pressure of a Wimbledon final and fell apart. Not the first to do so and he won't be the last.

It's over.

Is it the shortest final in history ?

I asked a few pages back, then decide to look for myself. :)

Shortest men's final:

The 1881 Wimbledon final in which William Renshaw defeated John Hartley, 6–0, 6–1, 6–1, lasted 36 minutes.
Fred Perry defeated Baron Gottfried von Cramm, 6–1, 6–1, 6–0, in the 1936 Wimbledon final in 40 minutes.

Not sure about the 'modern' era.
Oh, these sour times.

According to the Guardian he took some pills in the medical break, it mentions he slipped earlier on and they are wondering if he ended up a little bit hurt from that. I guess we'll find out in the interview.

Many average players have made it to the top 10 in the world rankings, reaching a semifinal of a grand slam doesn't count for much if that's your greatest achievement.
Did you ever watch Henman at his peak in a major tournament and think to yourself that he has a chance of winning it?
He was an average player who made it into the top 10 and won 11 titles in a thirteen year career.

That's the scary thing.

He could continue playing for a while and the only players to stop him are the other three.

He's got plenty of time to get showered and changed before he's announced as the new Doctor Who later.

Seriously though, that young generation is not coming through at all. Federer could play til he's 40 and still get to Slam finals I reckon.
