That's brilliant. After watching that video one thing makes sense to me now. Nunez look like a header, it's no wonder defenders can't settle when he's around on the pitch because you wouldn't be able to settle near him off it either.

Our entire left hand side was packed with right footers so we had no natural width as everyone wanted to come infield on their favoured foot. We looked so one dimensional until Robertson came on.

Needed a natural left back tonight, thought Tsimikas may have started with Robbo having the knock. He was good when he came on but we were just lacking the basics.

Mad having two left footed left backs on the bench for an hour when we were so lacking a left footed creative player.

Thank fuck he wasn't crocked for Scotland because we'll need him.

Robbo's problem has been his inconsistency he needs to improve that. That has been the reason (and his injuries) that we've had to try different tactics and players.

What we’ve been missing from the left, as well as Gomez has deputised it doesn’t make sense to me that he plays ahead of a fit Robbo or Tsimi.

I think it's largely just been fitness really. That's why I've been hoping we'll sign someone who can compete with him soon, so he can get more breaks rather than trying to play him twice a week.

Yeah it’s been odd, and Tsimikas would have been a fair shout. Bradley is looking knackered and we need Gomez to be able to cover other positions for the time being.

Now they're both fit we should be using Gomez to manage Bradley's minutes and Virg/Konate.

Made a huge difference to us when he came on yesterday. Gomez did his best but there are inherent limits to what he can do down the left. Robertson brought not only increased drive, but left-footedness and sheer quality, creating serious threats. His pass for the third goal was immaculate.

Gomez has been absolute quality at left back this season though, he's a had a few more underwhelming performances recently though so now people think it's the clearest thing in the world that he shouldn't be starting. They now want the much maligned Robbo or Tsimikas to come back in.

The boom bust cycle continues.

gomez is still first choice left back for me

He's top class and our best left back by far, never lost his place but got injured for a spell, now he's back. That's all there is to it, unless one wants to invent problems that aren't there. Gomez and Tsimikas are good as well, just not as good as Robertson in that position.
