Goal –  Raphinha sends a precise lofted pass into the box, Fermin Lopez (Barcelona) rises above the defenders near the penalty spot to meet the ball and heads it straight into the top right corner.

Goal! Marc-Andre ter Stegen makes a huge mistake and Hugo Duro (Valencia) has an easy task to put the ball into the back of the net.

Hold on! There’s a VAR review to see whether there was an offside in the build up to the goal. The referee is checking now. The Valencia players aren’t happy.

Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea sticks with his original decision after the VAR review. No infringement and the goal stands!

The referee makes the VAR signal and he's going to review that incident from earlier. This could be a red card for Giorgi Mamardashvili (Valencia)! Let's see what he decides.

Referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea seems to have made up his mind after reviewing the incident using VAR, and it’s RED for Giorgi Mamardashvili (Valencia).

Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona) jumped highest inside the box to meet a perfectly executed corner kick by Ilkay Gundogan. His header bounced off the ground and went inside the right post behind the goalkeeper. It's 2:2.

Wait! Referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea has indicated he is going to review the Barcelona goal using VAR. It’s probably to see if there was an offside in the build-up.

Here comes the VAR decision. The goal is given and Barcelona players have a reason to celebrate!

GOAL! The corner comes over and Ronald Araujo wins a simple header before Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona) nods the ball into the back of the net. 3:2.

The Barcelona players halt their celebrations as referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea makes the VAR signal to review the goal, most likely to ascertain if there was a foul in the build-up play.

'Girona to be reported to UEFA after being accused of financial irregularities in Artem Dobvyk deal':-

www.football-espana.net/2024/05/02/girona-to-be-reported-to-uefa-after-being-accused-of-financial-irregularities-in-artem-dobvyk-deal

'Artem Dovbyk has been a phenomenal signing for Girona. He arrived last summer from Dnipro-1, and has proceeded to score 19 goals in La Liga across 34 appearances, which has him on track to win the Pichichi Trophy in his debut season.

However, that deal with Dnipro-1 could end up landing Girona in hot water. Accusations have been made by lawyer Evgeniy Kuzmin that the two clubs engaged in a number of irregularities during last summer’s operation.

It’s claimed that a fraudulent plan was carried out as way for the payment of taxes in Ukraine to be evaded, as explained by Kuzmin, with quotes covered by MD.

“All payments should go only to Ukrainian bank accounts. If we talk about sports law, the footballer is registered as a client of a Ukrainian company owned by Lyndovsky (his agent). And only this organisation has the right to accept payments for Artem Dovbyk.”

Kuzmin also confirmed that he is set to file an official complaint over the matter to UEFA.

“I am confident that the competent UEFA bodies, to which I have prepared a complaint, will investigate these violations and make a fair and appropriate decision. I hope that the Ukrainian Football Federation will pay attention to this matter.”

If the matter is pursued, Girona could face serious consequences if found to be guilty. A fine would be the lowest punishment, while the harshest sanction could be expulsion from La Liga and the Champions League, where they are on course to be playing next season.'

There was absolutely no sign of a Champions League hangover from Real Madrid as they swept Granada aside 4-0 on Saturday to make it 22 competitive games unbeaten (W16, D6). Having been confirmed as La Liga champions at the end of matchday 34, Carlo Ancelotti’s side will now get to lift the trophy in front of their fans after this game, guaranteeing a party atmosphere at the Bernabéu.

Before that, Los Blancos will focus on the target of going unbeaten across an entire home league campaign (W15, D2 so far) - something they last achieved in the 2019/20 campaign. With the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund to come next month as well, there will be no let up from a Los Blancos side who haven’t lost a La Liga game here since April 2023 (W19, D3).

After drawing 2-2 with Girona, Alavés could still achieve a top-half La Liga finish for the first time since 2016/17, which was coincidentally the last time they were new to the division following promotion. Luis García’s side are on a four-match unbeaten run (W3, D1) and taking four points during that run from sides in the top four (W1, D1) should have them in good spirits as they visit Madrid.

Somewhat dampening those spirits is the fact El Glorioso haven’t travelled well this term, and although beating Valencia 1-0 snapped a run of three straight league road defeats, that was just their third such victory of the campaign (D5, L9). While they might take inspiration from winning this H2H 2-1 in 2020 during COVID times, it should be noted that their previous win here with fans present was back in May 2000.

Players to watch: Arda Güler’s strike against Granada was his second in his last three Madrid appearances and all three of his goals this season came in wins ‘to nil’. Jon Guridi has netted three times across Alavés’ last three games, two of which came after the 50th minute.

Hot streak: Madrid have won their last five La Liga home games played on a Tuesday by at least a two-goal margin.

Jude Bellingham meets a perfect cross from Toni Kroos deep inside the box and controls it with a nice first touch. He produces an accurate strike inside the right post.

Goal  45+1
3-0 Madrid

Jude Bellingham finds Federico Valverde (Real Madrid) with a clever pass. He steps inside his man on the edge of the box and whips a tremendous shot into the top right corner.
