Gakpo was not good. Can't pass to save his life - had an easy pass to Elliot on the counter and hoofed it 10 yards past him, and when nunez put the cross in, he was randomly standing on the goal line instead of trying to attack the ball.

Gakpo has at least done some good runs through their defences especially early on. But we need some to actually put the ball in the net, as no one looks like doing it at the moment.

Their type of system will either look amazing or fall apart depending on the opposition they play up against it. All it needs is one correctly weighted through ball and we are in. Unfortunately we aren't playing that final pass. Then the last 10 minutes we got locked in our half/middle part of the pitch struggling to beat their pressure on the ball.

Nunez's effort when he was through on goal was so poor. He offers so much but when you witness efforts like that you want to scream

Really struggling to get the ball through midfield, its a weird hybrid man marking system they are doing. Hopefully with their exertion they tire and we can get some subs on to take advantage

Elliott has been a brilliant sub this season, but this game (that one shot aside) shows why he's still not suited to starting games against good sides - when it's hectic and compressed and the opposition are pressing the shit out of us, he gets easily crowded out and doesn't have the physical side to cope with it.

When games or more stretched or the opposition are more tired is where he comes into his own.

I largely agree with what your saying but that half of football hardly inspires confidence after the shite against Utd. I still think we win but and we’ll do much better second half but that really was a bad half of football, don’t think any of the lads are having a good game so far.

The only good thing to say is we rested some players for a half and thank god this wasn’t in a league game.

No doubt better players will come on and we’ll adjust to their man marking and win but we can’t keep starting so badly. Actually got worse as the half proceeded.

Tactically outwitted, we don’t know how to progress the ball against their man marking. We got control from 15-30 but gave away a poor goal and momentum shifted towards them. Hoping Klopp has a few words and shows them how to play against these or make changes.

Completely unsustainable to keep having to come back in games. You don't always get away with it like we saw on Sunday. It's like we are just doing training exercises in 1st half of games. Need to start taking things seriously and not wait till things get desperate before our minds are focused.
