Your Celebrity Lookalikes
« on: February 15, 2024, 02:43:32 pm »
I appreciate that this sort of thread will be prone to the sort of irreverent windups that RAWK specialises in, but yesterday at work a new colleague asked if I'd seen "What We Do in the Shadows" because apparently I looked like one of the vampires.

Turns out she meant Matt Berry. Given he's got nearly a decade on me I'm not sure whether to be offended by that, but I think it's just how much I've let my hair grow over winter.

Previously I had a woman whom I'd met on an online dating site (never met in person) say my photos reminded her of Andy Garcia, and I've been compared in the past to Rowan Atkinson (more specifically, the kids at the school I worked at used "Mr Bean" as an insult but I'm going to take the positives from it).

So there you go. If you ever want to picture what that handsome idiot you're arguing with online looks like, try to imagine a Garcia/Bean hybrid with Matt Berry's general hairiness.

Anybody else with interesting doppelgängers they've been compared to?

When I was little, Steve Davies was a good mate of my dad's.

No, not that Steve Davies.

I look a little bit like my avatar (or did when I was younger and had full hair). Which is weird, because the avatar was bestowed upon me by the Mod team. And I've no fucking clue who it is.

I've been told I both look and sound like Andy Murray. In fact my much younger cousin when she was a kid did a double take when I arrived at their house once because she though he had just walked in. I don't see it at all.

I'm not sure sounding like Andy Murray is a compliment.  ;D

The most frequent I get is John Kay, that slightly tubby guy off BBC Breakfast. Even my mum thinks it. The fucker’s about ten years older than me.

In younger years I had one Aussie mate firmly telling me I look like Ricky Ponting (I strongly disagree).

Old work colleagues said I looked like Jean-Marc Bosman of ‘on a Bosman’ fame. Fuck knows how that stuck on their consciousness.

The connection between all three? Piggy little eyes.

Having never seen John Kay I had to google his image and to be fair he does look a lot like Ricky Ponting.  So much so, I initially thought that pic you posted WAS Ponting.

Your Ricky Ponting revelation has sunk me.  I always imagined you as looking like Alan Partridge.

A girl I used to go out with in the mid-80s, at the time said I looked like Paul Heaton from the Housemartins.  I honestly look fuck all like him now.
