Whisper it silently but we can win the league this year. City look beatable.

Aye but we're in the 97th percentile for losing ground duels or some shit so it means nothing remember.

As a team? That would be shocking - and would have had us much further down the table. I'm guessing that's not true.

Considering the amount of injuries then this was probably more of a slog than it otherwise would have been. Fair play to Brentford though, they are well coached and way better than their budget would indicate they should be. I think Thomas Frank is a really good manager. If ManU is going to move on from Ten Hag then they could do way worse than appointing him. They played us tough and fair, we just had the better attackers and that's that. On to ManC!

Great win and important 3 points against an unusual side, particularly with the injuries in midfield.

- They had a chance which Ali made a great save, I think Trent would have covered it as well. We however were clinical, good buildup for the goal from all involved. Mo had a great chance to completely kill the game after his 1st goal towarda the end of the first half, following a  great ball by Trent.

- Up until 2-0 they didn't apply preasure on us, they got a bit wind with multiple corners, ali with a good save and Van Dijk with a great clearance. We profesionally finished the game and were ruthless in front of goal. It was much needed, the work ethic was what was needed.

Hopefully our midfield recovers from injuries in 2 weeks time

At the start of the season would happily take 2nd one point behind, on the verge of winning our Europa League group and a QF home tie in The League Cup.

Good time the break to regroup ahead of the City game.

Brilliant result & 3 very important points!

Thought Endo had a very good game and I really enjoyed Jota's goal - was right in front of in on the KOP - cant beat it when you scream 'get in' before it hits the back of the net!  :scarf

1 point behind City before we play them after the international break - if someone would have said that at the start of the season, I'd have snapped their hand off!
We’ll still finish in top four - and they won’t. You can quote me on this in May.

I was a teeny bit concerned before the game with the team being depleted so that was a really good win. A solid 3 nil with a few great individual moments by players.

After that I half wish we had another game coming soon but we do need our squad fit again.

Great stuff Reds.
Maybe the injuries and the last few poor games polished off that arrogance and complacency that had seeped into the team?
I thought we looked determined from the start for once, playing at a high tempo.
Far too many games we have played too slowly and statically

Eventually a good win, though our Achilles heel of starting sluggish appeared again. It’s like we need to get a sweat on, or something igniting us, that kicks us into life, Tiernees poor decision appeared to kick the team and fans into life today.
We’re good enough, but the key to winning a league is being consistent enough, ranging from within 90 minutes, to a run of games, from 4-5 to 10-15. I know we have it, we just need to sow it together and become that consistent team.

Nice shout out to Endo and Kostos, for solid performances, they needed it as much as we did.

It's so good to see their manager singing the praises of Salah and calling him one of the most underrated players in the Premier League and isn't he just? It's crazy how little fuss all his records get in the media as a whole, one of the greats and we need to make the most of him.

Refreshing game that.
Much needed after the week we've had!

Felt good to take the lead being worthy of the goal and then taking the game away from the oppo.
There were periods of poor play but nothing costly.

The XG for this game was pretty much level pegging….

I hadn’t quite seen it as being that close…once we scored it seemed pretty routine

Thought we played well and Gakpo had a decent performance in the middle. Great to see Salah, Nunez and Jota all in form at the same time; when they're all sharp that's our best front three imo.

Tsimikas played well too, hopefully now that he's had a few games he can maintain some form as we could really use him to stretch play a bit.

The kind of performance and result we routinely churned out in that 18/19/20 period.

Not eye-catching, but mostly in control and comfortable.

I'd love us to get back into that groove.

Very pleasing result. I had this one pencilled in as a routine home win a few weeks ago, but losing all our defensive and midfield depth, combined with Brentford's recent form including a textbook away win vs Chelsea, made me a little uncertain. However, I slept through the entire game (1am kick off) which is rare for me so I guess I wasn't overly worried. Great that Tsimikas had a couple of assists.

A very good performance and a relatively comfortable win against a side that traditionally causes us problems.  Other than the Mbeumo break in the first half - he's not really known for his finishing so no surprise he gave Allison a chance with it - and the flurry of corners at 3-0 they didn't create much at all.

They seemed to be trying to defend 1v1 against us and they don't have a defender capable of coping with Salah.  Given that he's usually double marked you could really see his quality today when he had a bit more time and space than usual.

I'd like to think VAR was only checking the Endo challenge for so long to fill the time while the Brentford player dragged out the physio treatment.  On the replay you can see that Tierney was perfectly placed to see it and he rightly didn't even give a free-kick.  Other than filling time I don't see why the VAR officials kept running the footage back and forth.

I really enjoyed that game. Brentford put it up to us in their own particular way. They were on a good run, 3 games won. Lots of good things in the game. Tsimikas solid and effective which is probably the most important performance. Delighted with the win.

Yeah, exactly that. Sometimes it can be excruciating, so my preferred method is to open the RAWK commentary thread and scroll through it, somehow it's less confrontational than the BBC live feed with its yellow GOAL! alerts.

Sometimes I'll be following games in a half asleep state and my mind will play tricks, so that I'm utterly convinced that certain events have happened (often wild stuff like Mo scoring to put us 7-6 up) and then get confused when I see it's 0-0 in the 83rd minute.

I've been doing this since moving back to Oz at the end of 2007 and I'm sure it's terrible for my health, so every match I sleep through is a cherished victory :)
