Good team. Jota might be a bit disappointed but he has a habit of taking a while to get going in games so you can see why Gakpo might start instead. Hopefully Endo adapts quickly, if he fits in well that improves 2-3 positions in the team as we're no longer playing people out of position.

Or he's our only 6. But he's doing what he was brought in to do! Hope he has a fantastic game!

Go on Endo!!!

Happy to see Gakpo in a more comfortable role. Hopefully Endo can provide the protection necessary. I do worry about Matip though.

He's our only 6 but if he wasn't ready then we still would have gone with the Gakpo experiment in midfield. Or Elliot.

Good side and Nunez and Jota on the bench gives us good attacking options.

I’d love to see us play this with 433, but I guess we’ll see how effective box midfield can be with a proper 6 in there.

Big test this, for system too.

Cant really expect miracles from our midfield when they dont know each other.  Just keep it tight, and pref no early goals against. Our goals against record in the first 20 mins must be un real over the past god knows how many months

One of the most difficult games of the season this. Physically a strong and bullying team, dirty and full of tricks. Refs seem to allow alot from them, unfortunately. They counter really well with their quick playersx which we seem to struggle with stopping these days as we are a bit open. We need to see our midfield and defence at their best, and we have to be clinical going forward. We have to be at our best today. Hopefully Endo can be the missing piece to protect the defence.

Come on Liverpool! YNWA!!!

Please don’t invert Trent this game.

He'll still do it even if he doesnt go into midfield.

Before the " inverted " role he was going more and more infield instead of overlapping.

glad to see endo starting and gakpo up front finally where he can cause the most damage.

guess gomez role is now as an auxiliary rb and primarily cover for trent until hopefully bradley recovers. endo will probably be shielding for matip and trent and providing the legs as DM hopefully.

glad to see stefan on the bench.

and have a feeling that doak might do some damage if he plays.

This is the line-up many hoped for throughout the week. Gakpo for Jota so we actually have a forward to link up play and we'll also benefit from his ability to hold the ball up, which will be important as Newcastle are a strong and tall team.

Anyone saying we're desperate which is why Endo is starting regardless, there is no way he'd be playing if he hadn't showed his worth in training to justify the start. With 11 men I think we see the true Endo today - if he can win the ball and give it then it's something we've been missing.  I'm not sentimentally hoping for a 4-3 like the broadcasters always mention (it was years ago!)

Get through the first 20 minutes then I see a tight game - 2-1 to the Redmen!!

Come on!!!

Yes, Mac starting in the 8! I like our chances of winning a lot more now. We should have much higher quality possession with Gakpo, Dom, and Mac connecting the middle and final third.

Great to see Gakpo up top, and great to see Endo starting to free up Mac and Dom into more attacking minded positions.

Tough game, but confident we’ll get a good result here

It is.

City will probably stroll the League and there’s a lot of Teams fighting for other spots.
