Will go down as one of the all time worst halves by a Liverpool player at Anfield. Was lucky we didn’t go in 3-4 down due to his sloppiness throughout.

He’s been fantastic this season but when it’s mattered most he’s been well short. He was so badly exposed today.
He was very poor but he's performed to the best of his abilities which we can respect.

He was terrible some of it was a bad performance but some of it isn’t his fault.. Asking him to build up as a lone 6 vs palace when you’ve got the fucking tape of what they did to him at their place was mad

He hasn’t though. He’s had a cult following and hyperbolic praise in response to harsh criticism but in reality he’s been really good in a few games. OK in a few. But also really poor at times.

This sums it up for me yeah. He came in to do a squad job, which he did at times very well throughout season but why he’s starting against Utd and palace … poor team selection and this isn’t his level, not consistently week on week.

That's a bit hyperbolic, he was poor but so were many others. Truth is he's come in and done a job pretty well but without additional cover for the position he was never going to be able to keep it up forever.

Players are taking a lot of flack this past month but some of the personnel and tactical decisions have been really poor. It was obvious about 5 minutes in today that it wasn't gonna be a game for Endo - even if he'd done his defensive work properly, he's offering nothing in the build-up especially against a press and it meant we spent a chunk of the first half passing the ball aimelessly around the back.

He's neither as bad nor as good as he's been made out to be this season - he's a fairly average midfielder at this level who doesn't really suit our game, and who should never have been more than a squad player. Some of it is injuries, but he's also the only player other than Macca who can play that positon in the entire squad, which is poor planning.

Maybe so, the passing and execution was scandalous though. There was one he played to Salah and Salah hadn’t even got close to being in front of his man (I think it was actually two men) and he’d already telegraphed it to him, it was supremely low IQ and execution. Even some of the basic simple passing was poor, he often reverted to going sideways to Ibou too, who himself was woeful progressively today.

I’ve backed him all season, his tenacity and his good days on the ball have exceeded expectations in so many games but he was well short today. I couldn’t believe he’d made it to half time.

Klopp has made some selection mistakes for sure over the past few weeks. Endo is a good squad player but should not be an automatic starter. We need to invest in a proper six to allow this squad to continue to keep pace with City and Arsenal.
It’s easy to believe when it’s going well.

Endo has exceeded expectations this season and turned in some brilliant performances, but ultimately his future with us is going to be as a squad player. The new Milner. A wise old head to play in the cup games and come on as a sub with 10 minutes to go to close games out.

He was atrocious today and rightly got the hook, but the entire midfield was flat and pedestrian. Every pass went sideways. Any of them could have got the hook at halftime

He was signed to tide us over in terms of the squad with Milner going, not be the starting 6.

Our ineptness in failing to replace Gini for years and now Fabinho has ruined seasons.

Endo is clearly burnt out though. He's used to a 34 game Bundesliga season with a month long winter break. Instead he's got two games every week and an Asia Cup in the middle of the season and starts every week.

We had a top midfield of Gini, Fabinho and Henderson

Gini left in 2021 and we didn't sign anybody in 2021 to replace him. We didn't sign anybody in 2022.

Fabinho and Henderson's legs went in 2022. The only 6 we've signed is Endo who was signed to be cover.

Here we go again, a few defeats and we start blaming Souness for not signing Roy Keane.

Well it's not the player's fault, is it? He's done his best, but it'd be like having Minamino as our starting centre forward for a season.

If we'd strengthened the squad properly in recent years, Endo could have been the useful squad player he was signed to be rather than out of his depth.

He was poor but it looks like we’ve just been worked out the last few weeks and we aren’t responding.

It’s an odd one as he is a decent stop gap if we planned to get top 4, but coming to close right now and compared to Rice and Rodri it’s a bit what if.

Look Endo is what he is. He works hard and puts his foot in. He's technically limited and doesn't have a great passing range. But is he a decent player? Absolutely. Should he be starting as a 6 every week for a title winning side? No. They'll upgrade on him in the summer, but it's not his fault. Liverpool's poor midfield succession planning is to blame.

He was excellent for a period when around Xmas. Then since he came back from the Asian Cup, he seems just a lot slower?

Was ok, but same deficiencies in his game. He struggles with players who get goal side of him, can't get back. Also can't handle a high press, or breaking the lines when teams sit off. Probably is also fatigued, absolutely. But he isn't in the class of Rodri, Rice or Fabinho (18-20 & 21/22)

Wish Klopp would stop flogging him. We have plenty of midfielders now. Endo looked shattered from the start, and has for the last few matches.

Because that's the level you need and it's such an important position. If you took them out of their sides they'd be getting Endo type performances from whoever comes in because ultimately they'd be squad players.

Put Rodri or Rice - or a prime Fabinho - in our team every week and it would transform us from a defensive point of view and in terms of team balance.

Shocking today. His season is done.

Rather one of the youngest play ahead of him.

Great 1st season though but time to rest up.

Endo has played 2,330 minutes for us this season He hasn't been overplayed in terms of minutes. A rest isn't going to change things he simply isn't good enough to be our starting six. Time and time again he has been hooked at half time.

He has had to be hooked in both games against Palace this season. That is a bang-average team who are a bottom-half team. Today he was up against Wharton and Hughes and was thoroughly outplayed.

Because he struggled in the first game. They didnt press him, they let him have the ball but when he stepped up then he was fresh meat for them. They knew exactly what to do and we had seen that as well, but we didnt do anything to help him until 25 minutes when we finally put Mac next to him.

The guys race is run for this season. I dont think he is good enough, he shouldnt be starting but if you are going to play him, show a bit of pragmatism.

He barely played in the league until December though and a lot of international minutes. Since he came into the side he's mostly been playing 90 minutes and twice a week.

He's used to playing one game a week for middling Bundesliga teams.

He shouldn't be a starter for Liverpool - it's a bit pathetic that we've got ourselves into a situation where he is - but he was doing well. I think he's spent at the moment and is targeted more tactically.

Ha ha, we have been saying that every transfer window since Wijnaldum left. We bid £120m for Caicedo and £50m for Lavia and ended up with a £10 million Endo, who is ok but not first choice. But the mystical 6 we need, never was bought.

If he can't be trusted to play at home to Palace then he really shouldn't be at the club. In an ideal world we would have a top quality 6 and a backup more than good enough to play against the likes of a Wharton and Hughes.

Said post Atalanta the palace set up would be a problem. We don’t see, to be doing much homework on whats to come from the next opponent and that’s concerning. I saw a carbon copy today of the reverse fixture… Will Hughes snapping into tackles as soon as the ball was released to the opposing CM and we fell for it over and over

I agree. But he was playing and in that situation, we had to give ourself a cushion in terms of protection. We had a proper kick in the nuts on Thursday, we have been looking vulnerable, we should be pragmatic enough to think these players cant take another early blow.

we definaltely missed prime fab in the last 2 matches

endo is fine as a squad option for me next season

there more worrying concern is what will happen to the forward line

apart from jota there is the case that all of them could be sold

Hes boss at breaking up play and not being on the ball. Today, we were giving him the ball and expecting him to do something with it. He was only the stop gap and he's had a great season, performances like today were always going to happen.

I think that's fair. He was poor today of course, and so conservative on the ball. But there are some stupid comments which blame him for the goal. That was a collective failure and Endo was by no means the chief culprit. Jones was slow to close down, Mac Allister seemed oblivious to the danger and - worst of all - Konate decided to mark a space where there was little threat rather than keep close to Eze.
