It's not just about age, it's experience. Most of Chelsea's young players have been playing first team football for years and were signed for anything from £20 million to over £100 million.

Our young players had never featured for us before this season, some hadn't featured prior to 2024, and some hadn't featured prior to last week.

It's a nonsense comparison by them.  Boehly has deliberately signed loads of players in their early 20s on massive contracts because that's what he thinks is a route to success.  None of the players that played for them yesterday were not fully established members of their first team.

Chelsea have gone with a strategy of paying big money for players at a certain age range. Chelsea have got very expensively assembled younger players within that side. Enzo and Caicedo are both two of the most expensive signings in football history. They should be ready made superstars at the price they paid.

Kelleher, Quansah, Clark, Mcconnell, Danns, Bradley, Elliott either came through our Academy or cost comparatively very little when the club signed them at a young age. And but for injury we'd have had Doak and Bajcetic on the pitch as well (and Jones and Trent of course who were Academy graduates).

Not out of character - FSG have always maintained that they can compete financially with anyone in world football - but the timing of Endo signing heavily suggests he was at least a joint first choice and not a backup as many assumed
