This is about as good as I could do being a newbie to NBA this year
Not much help to those in the know but others write ups and the drafting process alone has helped me learn far more in the last week or so than the past few months getting into NBA.
Michael Jordan 89-93. A scoring prowess unparalleled, his defensive excellence was also instrumental in leading the Bulls to multiple championships. His competitive drive and will to win were legendary and he is without the greatest of all time. NBA championships & NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) (1991, 1992, and 1993), endless other achievements in this time period.
Charles Barkley's greatness between 1987 and 1991 stemmed from his exceptional individual skills, dominant scoring, rebounding genius, consistent All-Star selections, and team success. His achievements during that time, including an MVP award and international success, further solidified his status as one of the NBA's greatest players of his era.
In the 2005-06 season,
Dwayne Wade led the Miami Heat to their first-ever NBA Championship. He played a pivotal role in the team's success, averaging 27.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game in the NBA Finals. Wade's remarkable performance earned him the Finals MVP award, rubber stamping his status as one of the game's elite players. Wade was selected as an NBA All-Star in each of the seasons from 2005 to 2009.
Moses Malone (81-85) won the NBA Most Valuable Player award three times during this period. He led the league in rebounding for five consecutive seasons from 1981 to 1985, averaging over 14 rebounds per game during that period. He also had an incredible scoring ability, averaging over 24 points per game during those five seasons. He became the only player in history to win the MVP award with two different teams (Houston Rockets in 1982 and Philadelphia 76ers in 1983, 1985). His achievements during this period firmly established him as one of the all-time greats in basketball history.
Dennis Rodman led the NBA in rebounds per game for seven consecutive seasons from 1992 to 1998, including the years between 1990 and 1994. Rodman was an exceptional defensive player. He possessed incredible versatility, often guarding players of various positions, from guards to centers.
In the 2012-2013 season,
Carmelo Anthony won the NBA scoring title by leading the league in scoring with an average of 28.7 points per game. Additionally, he was named to the All-NBA Second Team in 2010, 2013, (and 2014), highlighting his status as one of the league's elite players
Draymond Green won three NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors during this period, in the seasons 2014-15, 2016-17, and 2017-18. Green earned three consecutive NBA All-Star selections in 2016, 2017, and 2018, representing his consistent performance and recognition among the league's top players. Green was named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2017, proving his status as one of the greatest defenders the league has ever seen.
During the 2015-2019 period,
Kyrie Irving was selected to the NBA All-Star Game in each season. He was also named the NBA All-Star Game MVP in (2014) and 2018. Irving played a crucial role alongside LeBron James in leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to their first-ever NBA championship in 2016. Olympic Gold Medal (2016)
Damian Lillard was selected as an NBA All-Star in every season from 2019 to 2023. Lillard won the NBA scoring title in the 2020-2021 season, averaging an impressive 34.3 points per game. His famous "Dame Time" moments, including his 37-foot series-clinching shot against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2019 playoffs, have banked his status as one of the most clutch players in NBA history.
Bill Laimbeer played a major role in helping the Detroit Pistons secure consecutive NBA titles in 1989 and 1990 for the "Bad Boys" Pistons and also earned four consecutive All-Star selections from 1987 to 1990. Bill left a lasting legacy by pioneering the stretch big man role, which became prevalent in the following decades.
