I don't think we matched their intensity to start the game but some individual moments of magic put us in the lead and then Pope made it even easier. With that said some of our play was just as poor as any of the recent away losses but this time we weren't punished. Thems the brakes. I'll certainly take it. On to Madrid!

Them going down to 10 pretty much killed the game, as it often does when that happens. I think going two up early on, then them going down to ten allowed us to ease off and start looking towards the Madrid game.

From what I've seen I don't really rate Saudicastle that much, but plenty of people thought they'd beat us today. With that in mind, and our form up until the derby, 0-2 up there is a very tidy result indeed. Six points against the Bitter and Twisted at home and the Saudis away is a very nice weeks work.

Yes, we could have scored more, and we also gave them more chances than I'd like, but no need to bust a gut in the second half today with Madrid looming on the horizon.

Only 35 goals scored by Newcastle in the league thus far. Few defeats, but lots of draws. That could cost them a top 4 spot.

They were always going drop off a bit but Guimaraes being out has really cost them. He'll be back soon so no doubt their form will improve (7 points from their last 6) but I can't see them getting the kind of results they were getting earlier in the season, so we should have a good chance of catching them if we can find some consistency.

Good result. Difficult to judge the performance because of the sending off and then the mass substitution.
Thought Fab looked better, and Stefan was doing reasonably well until he was crunched by that cheat trippier. Trippier rolling round after fouling him. Seemed to take the wind out of his sails. Perhaps he ran out of gas and Klopp got him out of it. Thought the two Scorers caused them no end of bother. Mo was scaring the shit out of the grock Burn.
After the sending off they ran themselves into the ground trying to keep us at bay. We could have had a few at the end. Alli was immense.

Quite clearly this is going to be a longer process. In 20/21 even in those last 10 there were a number of poor performances.
