Real are finding form and havent been beaten since january. Same can be said about Chelsea. Will be really tough but its still a good draw. I dont like that its right after the international break though.

City will make very light work of Dortmund. Bayern or PSG could give them a run for their money though...

Only if you listen to the English media. Dortmund are one of the few teams that have the attacking power to have a go at Man City's defence, and I'd be surprised if Man City get past Bayern Munich or PSG in the semi-finals ...

The stars seem to be aligning:

Car crash of a domestic season.. (Check)

Champions League our only hope for salvation.. (Check) ✅

Proper European Royalty in the quarters.. (Check)✅

c*nts from West London possibly in the semis (Check)✅

A very very tough opponent in the final if we make it (Check)✅

Final in Istanbul (Check) ✅

We got this..

Agree with the sentiment but Juventus are by no means European royalty :D

About as good as we could have expected. Madrid are beatable as are Porto and Chelsea if we progress. We can then beat anybody in a one-off final. It's on.

Well, he’s rarely fit nowadays, and even if he plays he will not be at the levels he was at for Chelsea a couple of years ago. Hopefully.

It’s impossible not to be excited.

Pricks they may be, but there’s no denying that Real are one of, if not the, greatest names in European history and there’s no denying which tie out of those 4 will raise the most eyebrows.

Liverpool v Real Madrid in the quarter finals of the European Cup is a beautiful prospect, it stokes the flames, pumps the heart and will make the days seem like weeks until that first match at the Bernabeau.

It’s of course, such a shame that there won’t be anyone to witness it, not least because I think it would scare the living shite out Madrid after what that pony tailed prick did to Salah in Kiev.

Nevertheless, when the 1st leg rolls around, it will be the first of those glorious european nights where the sun is still shining as the players walk out, the ale is flowing from early evening, and it feels like the only thing that matters in the world for the next 90 minutes.

I fucking love the European Cup and I love it for draws like this, albeit when we’re there to be a part of it, ideally.

Hard to deny that the draw is a good one. We owe Real after 2018, and if we get through that, there’s a chance to face Chelsea after Tuchel’s honeymoon period wears thin or a Porto side who are eminently beatable. Get to the final, and anything is possible. I still think this is our best chance of securing CL football next season, so should prioritise this over the PL.

About as good a draw as we could have hoped for. With the 3 best teams in the other half of the draw, we have a realistic route to the final.

And we owe Madrid big time. Salah will be up for that one in a big way.

Not bad at all!

Zidane may surprise me but I can't see Real setting up with the dreaded League Two deep-and-narrow shape that most of the Premier League use against us.  Our central defence is a weakness that's not going anywhere fast but if it's an open game then we definitely have the forwards to run them ragged.

Depressing the thought of us playing Real Madrid in the CL in an empty ground.

Good signs of overconfidence. I remember last time Real Madrid were overconfident ahead of a CL knockout round against us.

I’d rather play then than Dortmund to be honest. I think our defence are doing well at the moment but Haalands pace would terrify me against Nat and Kabak.

Happy enough with that draw really. I couldn't give a shit about Ramos either and whether he will play or not and all that. It will be an awful waste of energy if our lads worry about payback and revenge. You can be sure though Ramos will try and use that somehow. Don't get involved. Just knock them out. (then him)

It won't even be at the Bernabeu! This season really is sucking the fun out of everything

It is, but for about 5 minutes after Salah scored the goal against Leipzig which made it clear we were going through, I almost forgot about it.

This competition I think in part helps me forget about it, of course there’s the caveat that this competition is the one which above all others is such a shame to have without fans

I always think that the best feeling in football, other than actually winning a trophy, is when that goal goes in which makes it obvious you’ve won the match, whether it’s 2-0 at the end like Ngog and Salah against the Mancs, or a late winner, but that goal which ends it is amazing, and you can multiply that in the CL because of both the magnitude of the achievement to win and also the fact that the games are played over 2 legs so it feels like the end of a battle when you finally get over the line. The best example in recent memory was Salah against City in the quarters, but I’m hoping we get that moment against Madrid, and for a few more moments forget about the fact that we’re not there (and nobody else is there either.)
