Yeah Brennan is City's answer to Duncan Castles.
"Guardiola turns average players into very good ones" got me thinking though. I'm not massively in to the Guardiola v Klopp debate - they are both great managers - but one thing that I've always appreciated about Klopp is his ability to develop relatively unestablished players. He's signed the likes of Mane, Salah, Wijnaldum, Robertson and established them as some of the best players in their positions. Henderson has matured into the heartbeat of the best side in Europe. Lovren and Lallana were subject to criticism and jokes but they're still key members of the squad now. I can't see Guardiola replicating any of this at City. During his time there he has signed very good players, and they've performed as expected. Stones, Walker, Gabriel Jesus, Gundogan are about the same level as they have been for years. Sane, Cancelo, Mendy were highly regarded players but none of them seem to have a future there. Danilo didn't last long. Perhaps it's why they've struggled this year. It feels like this Liverpool team are growing together each year. City, not so much.
