Ipswich coming up from League 1 and losing six league games all season is ridiculous when you think about it, especially in a 46 game season. Some job he's done there. Probably go right back down but even getting there in the first place is an achievement.

Mad that it looks like Birmingham will  be going down.
Ridiculous decision to fire their manager and hire rooney whilst they were doing well!

What's happened to Blackburn too?! They were flying earlier in the season

Unbelievable stuff from Ipswich to get a second promotion in 2 years. They’ve been excellent all season. Even a few months ago people were saying they’d fall away but they’ve just been so consistent. McKenna has done some job there. Clever recruitment as well. It’ll be interesting to see them in the PL next season. Hope our away game there falls kindly for me to be able to go!

Birmingham fans must be in disbelief. Probably thought that if they just win their game, there's absolutely no way all 3 of the teams above them win theirs.

Szmodics has absolutely carried Blackburn to survival, didn't realise they were so low down. Surely playing for a Prem side next season, maybe one of the promoted ones.

27 goals he's scored. Next most is 20. Shouldn't be anywhere near relegation..probably had the leagues best midfielder in Wharton as well until Jan.

Was disappointed to see Szmodics is already 28, was hoping he was a younger player on the way up. Spent most of his career at Colchester and Peterborough.

Perhaps he'll have a Vardy-esque late blossoming.

2002 yeah. We were well set with a couple of smart additions but fucked the summer window badly.

Leaves Sheff Wed as the only real long absence out the top.flight for a biggish Club (2000). Derby maybe as well going back to 2008.

Blackburn always seem to have a striker banging loads in going back to Shearer.

Jordan Rhodes, Brereton Diaz and Adam Armstrong all top scored in the Champ in recent times. They never made the step up.

If you're a Birmingham City fan, it's an unforgiveable display of boardroom delusion and complacency.

One of those decisions fuelled by that peculiar kind of arrogance that new owners of clubs often seem to bring - giving the big talk about 'culture', 'identity' and 'ambition', trying to fix things that aren't broken, and throwing their weight around while displaying a level of nous and understanding that is genuinely lower than your average fan at the pub.

What's worse, they literally did the same thing a few years ago when the previous new board sacked Rowett to hire Zola.

It’s an amazing achievement by Ipswich this season given the quality of the relegated teams. It’ll be interesting how their style of player translates to PL. we’ve seen  Burnley struggle this season. Arguably we’ve seen Norwich do the same in other seasons, where an effective style for the Championship is found out in PL.

I think Ipswich have a poorer squad than Burnley did last season but arguably a better manager. Worked the loan system well. Concerns will be about quality at centre back, lack of pace in midfield with Morsy and Loungo and lack of a genuine goal scorer. Scored loads of goals this season but no-one close to 20 league goals. Scored  92 league goals and highest score (Chaplin) had 13.

No matter what they do next season, getting in PL will be amazing for Ipswich the town and Suffolk as a whole. Ipswich get support from the whole county. Towns 25-35 miles away from Ipswich (like Stommatket, Haverhill, BSE) have extensive support for Ipswich despite 20 odd years out of the top division.
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

Hull have sacked their manager (Rosenior).

He took over last season a point above the relegation zone, finished 15th. 7th this season. Without much knowledge, it seems daft. It's clear progression.

On Szmodics - saw him a few times this season (live in Lancashire). He's quality. Age is against him, but could see Palace signing him as a replacement for Eze or Olise. Or Bournemouth. He's very tidy & reads the game so well.
