Plenty of batting to come. Even Archer can bat at 11.

Is this really a 350 pitch?

Depends on your view really.

It is a good score so far but Buttler wicket is huge. However, Ali and Stokes can get after it.
No, jazz. You fear jazz. You fear the lack of rules, the lack of boundaries. Oh look, it's a fence. But, no, it's soft.

Sounds like we're struggling a bit here.

Not necessarily struggling, it’s been fairly easy going at 6 an over throughout, but both times they got themselves set to launch an attack and accelerate they lost a couple of wickets and have had to reset.

Moeen just wafting at the ball. He’s going to pick up 30 odd in edges or he’s looping it up in the air for a catch inside the circle.

...and gone. Not caught inside the circle but caught at long on.  ::)

He's in shite form. He's not made 50 for 2 years. Surprised they picked him. Should go with Curran.

If we can get 330 without contributions from Bairstow and Buttler it shows we have good depth. Need a good finish here though.

Truthfully yes.

As others have said, our bowlers will need to bowl with discipline and variation.

Ali is overrated as a so called all rounder, often fails with the bat.
Would prefer they played someone else.

Unless it looks like it's really going to spin on a pitch then Curran should be in the side. Or, if he's in for his bowling is there an argument to put him below Woakes etc in the batting order.

I expected Curran to play not Plunkett to be honest.

Regarding Ali an ok bowler I suppose but truly unpredictable and often awful with the bat. Overrated.

The Oval is the least spin friendly track England play on, so if his form warranted a rest, this was the game.

(Love him to throw that back in my face and get a five-for).

England at least 30 runs short at the moment. South Africa probably favourites as it stands.

Rabada bowling very well here. Lost our way a bit here, no one’s been able to really dominate.

We’ll have a total that has us well in the game though. Seems like Saffers strongest suit is their bowling so still pretty 50/50 for me this.

Plenty of batting to come. Even Archer can bat at 11.

You wouldn’t think so looking at the last 20 minutes. Been a combination of decent bowling, good field placement, but above all poor batting.

Out reverse pulling 10 short of 100 , with a handful of balls left and your team relying on you.

Someone’s going to have to explain that one to me.
