Think we can have a bit more faith in them than that.

Give it another over at least. :D

Can see these two having to open up against spin most games now.

I'd be tempted to play Roy in the Ashes. If he comes off he'd take the game from them in no time and we don't exactly have rock solid openers as it is.

This annoys the hell out of me. England have won their last 9 or 10 ODI series, it's not a hype train whatsoever and they are favourites for that reason. Thats not saying they're going to win and an early wicket doent change a thing.

South Africa need wickets sharpish, otherwise they could be chasing 400. They're going in excess of 6 to the over and the power hitting hasn't even begun.

Good toss to win - the wicket’s got inevitable damp in it but will improve throughout the day as the temperature climbs.

Roy and Root gone in successive overs. Bugger.

111/3 off 20. Very much in the Garry.

England piss poorly losing 2 wickets in a very short space of time again. First Roy goes needlessly and now Root.

Recover from a bad start, look like they’ve got themselves into a position where they could accelerate, a couple of loose/silly shots, lose both set batsmen and have to build again.

Innings back in the balance.

Could do with Morgan and Stokes sticking it out for 10 overs or so. The worry with this England side comes if Buttler is in a bit too early and doesn't score then the wow factor goes a bit.

On the flip side, it'd be good for some of the 'tail' to get some time in the middle. We seemed to have a lot of {insert massive score here] for 3/4/ in the last series.

England may need Stokes and Ali to perform to get a good score, both have been hit and miss lately with the bat.

If England can go at 6 an over for the next 10 it takes them to 210. With Buttler in around that time 350+ is still possible. Morgan seems to be accelerating a little at the moment as well.

Anyone fancy giving a little summary of the morning? the BBC has just been saying "An England collapse is always round the corner, but this England team is different" in about 40 different ways all morning.
We already have shit in the country, and the game of Liverpool fills life with joy. Thanks

Was just about to say the same, at least with Ali you can look back at that 100 off 50 odd he scored last summer as some kind of show of quality, I can't remember the last standout innings stokes has had.

You should be doubling your score after 30 overs, especially if you are only 3 wickets down. 340 should be the aim here.

If you can use Firefox then get the HLS.js Playback add-in (its plays Acestream in a browser) then use this, it is brilliant quality.

Stokes needs to get himself out now, or at least start smashing it round the ground. 15 overs to go and this is where you want Buttler coming in.

England are again on for 350 plus here but they've not been at their swashbuckling best. That's down to South Africa having some quality bowlers and Du Plessis being smart in the middle overs by rotating his spinners and taking a bit of sting out of the game.

Still, Morgan is set and Buttler is in next. This is a really good patting pitch so that 350 score will be needed.

Those wonderful innings of his where he did smash it round the ground are few and far between these days, sadly. Hope he can rediscover that form.

Not getting much over 300 here. Batsmen getting 50 and then getting out with no-one (as yet) getting a big one, there’s a lot on Stokes’ shoulders now.

England are going to have to bowl well.
