That video is roughly 10 seconds long. Therefore he probably covered the length of a field in a canter in about 12-13 seconds. Thats' pretty bloody impressive for someone 191cm and 91kg.

On MOTD2 they said he was doing about 16mph or something like that. ;D

How Liverpool’s Alisson replaced Manchester United rival David de Gea as the gold standard of goalkeeping

https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/liverpool-alisson-manchester-united-david-de-gea-goalkeeper-rating-a9291591.html
Quote
Alisson had watched footage last week of Reina racing the length of the pitch to embrace David Ngog, who netted at the death in a 2-0 victory against United in October 2009.

So, when the Brazil international directed a precise 60-yard pass to Mohamed Salah, who held off Daniel James and slid his effort beyond David de Gea on Sunday, he mirrored that scene.

I went to celebrate it like this because I saw Pepe Reina do that against United,” Alisson said.
"Some listen to understand. Others listen to respond."
"A fool does not delight in understanding, but only in revealing his own mind."
In such a sumptuous festival of shite, I wouldn't be so quick to pick a winner..

But he'd make the shortlist

Sam Hardy was seen as our first great goalie, the best we’d had until Elisha Scott came along. Played in the 1900s for us and won the league in 05/06. Guess that would have meant he was in goal when the Kop first opened.

Remember Alisson is only the second most expensive goalie ever.

Here's an article on the most expensive goalie ever - 'Kepa Arrizabalaga's Chelsea future: Is he a problem for Frank Lampard?'.

In summary: -

Quote
Indeed, the statistics from this season suggest that while the average goalkeeper would have conceded 22 goals from the shots that he has faced, Kepa has instead conceded 30. That eight-goal performance deficit makes him the worst goalkeeper in the Premier League this season based on this metric. Reports emerged last month suggesting that Lampard was keen to replace Kepa in the summer. That would be quite a decision given Chelsea's investment in the goalkeeper - one whose peak is presumed to be ahead of him at the age of just 25.

Yes, it's not lost on me that we have the second most expensive goal keeper and the second most expensive defender, but we definitely have the most valuable goal keeper and the most valuable defender.

Virgil, modest guy that I'm sure he is, must secretly have a big laugh when they mention Maguire cost more than him.

Tommy Lawrence was the first 'sweeper keeper' and was brilliant at it, not that big for a keeper but brave as fuck and would take anything out that beat the last line of defence and approached his area!

This is from the LFC TV tribute to him after 'the flying pig' sadly passed away..

'Ahead of his time as part of Bill Shankly’s first great side in the early 1960s, Lawrence was a sweeper-keeper long before it became fashionable – and was rightly revered by the Kop and his teammates for being a formidable last line of defence'

The "pass into danger" stat is interesting. They define that as "Percentage of Passes made where the recipient was under pressure or otherwise in Danger".

With our strategy of playing it out from the back so much, it can often look like the defenders are under pressure when they receive the ball, but then we go and score less than 30 seconds later. I wonder if Alisson's "pass into danger" stats include those occasions.

It's a position that's impossible to compare in my opinion because of how the game (and the rules, playing surfaces etc) has changed. I remember Clem playing without gloves on many occasions! Goalkeepers got little or no protection from Refs years ago from big fuck off maurading Centre forwards either!

Our disallowed goal against the Mancs is a perfect example for the non foul on De Gea. That's why I will always standby my opinion that the Clemence, Banks and Jennings  of this world will always be in a class of their own.

As the years have gone by until the present day, I would Alisson in the best keeper we've had in recent times without a doubt, but as I say, the further you go back the harder it is to make comparisons to our past keepers.

My disclaimer for this post is that I’m drunk...

But honestly i think he might be the best goal keeper in the history of football

I get that this might seem premature but he’s got 5-7 more years in his prime as a keeper and I’m pretty confident in 10 years time people will look back at his post and say ‘yup .... Jack was ahead of the curve ... he was clearly the best’ :)

Put it this way - I’ve never seen a keeper with his combination and level of skills he just needs to keep this level for a few years and he’s the best to ever do it

I would like to second this motion.
Sometimes a man stands up during supper
and walks outdoors, and keeps on walking,
because of a church that stands somewhere in the East.

Weaving through the players before sliding up to Mo, would be nice to see it in one shot.

That was about 10 years earlier, I think when Kenny took over he wanted Thommo in to replace Lawler, and don't think he told Chris personally about the change.

Fair to say the greater athleticism of forwards (i.e. hit the thing harder and more accurately) and the changing of balls to zip quicker and more unpredictably offsets the few cases of a keeper getting 'bullied' into conceding, no?

Fair to say the greater athleticism of forwards (i.e. hit the thing harder and more accurately) and the changing of balls to zip quicker and more unpredictably offsets the few cases of a keeper getting 'bullied' into conceding, no?

The greater athleticism of keepers cancels out the current speed of forwards, a ball zipping quicker on today's pristine pitches is far easier and more predictable for a keeper to deal with than one that weighed a ton and got stuck in a mud bath or a lump of snow.

Today's keepers are way over protected in my opinion, the bravery aspect of their position doesn't really come in to it anymore. Even rules like the back pass one helps then enormously,  which is great for the current keepers,  but something goalies of past didn't have the luxury of.
