Wrong, medical staff will have a pretty good idea on what is wrong right now. MRI only confirms their diagnosis, it doesn't make it.

Same. If it's not ACL it's a pretty big MCL/LCL injury.

Let me rephrase. The medical will no doubt have a pretty good idea of what's going on, but won't know exactly what's going on until they see the scan. They generally have a pretty good idea, but the MRI is conclusive, and the won't know until that happens.

Could be meniscus as well, which wouldn't be nearly as bad.

We'll know more by Monday at least. Let's try and not drive ourselves crazy.

Imperative Matip stays fit now.

If he's out long term (and you're talking months realistically) we might have to sack off the CL. We can't risk Matip and Gomez every 3 days until the transfer window opens.

And if Thiago is fucked then we need Fabinho in midfield.

The VAR decisions are annoying but it's a win for Everton because they've fucked our season again with the injuries (Mori on Origi). They'll be street parties later on County Road at the injuries.

Nah, we've got Milner as an option hopefully Ox to come back soon. Curtis Jones or Minamino could drop deeper as well.

To be fair, given the injury histories of Matip and Gomez, it was imperative we signed a 4th choice CB. We saw what happened with Man City last season.

I wouldn't even make Matip train barring some aerobic exercises.  Make him do some running and wrap him up in cotton wool.

Gomez out of form, Matip back but can't be relied upon injury wise. Rhys Williams will be in and around the first team squad now perhaps.

The problem is he has to get used to working with Joe and I presume Fab will play at the back a bit more. They can only do that by training together.

We can use Fab though I would prefer him in midfield. If Klopp can't see someone better than what we already have he won't buy.

You are guessing he is out months. Do you know this info?

Well if Thiago is injured, we play Henderson, Wijnaldum, Milner, Keita in midfield. We won the league without Thiago remember.

Which was obvious, but at the same time unless we were going to go out and spend big money then where do you get that VVD replacement? City spent silly money on Nathan Ake for example who'd fit the bill, but we didn't have that money to throw about on a 4th choice.

If we'd got some random in for 5-10 mill who'd need time to adjust to our backline etc, than we'd be no less fucked by having the worlds best defender out. Both their goals today are cleared by Virgil.

Wrong, medical staff will have a pretty good idea on what is wrong right now. MRI only confirms their diagnosis, it doesn't make it.

Same. If it's not ACL it's a pretty big MCL/LCL injury.

The stills of the hyperextension of his knee are horrific. I think it is a bad one as well.

I get that, but we're not exclusively fucked with just Van Dijk being out. We're potentially fucked because we don't have a tonne of options anyway and the ones we do have are prone to injury. It is just a pure numbers issue.

We probably have a centre half lined up for next summer - we do operate several windows ahead - but it becomes somewhat negligent to take the risk of not investing. In that case, keep Lovren, for as dodgy as he was.

Did we need to sell Lovren?

If we had kept him then everyone would be panicking that Lovren was going to get a run in the team. Not much different than they have with Adrian.

I think it was time he left and we should really have got someone in, but ultimately finances dictate why we couldn't throw 25-30 mill at Ben White for example and another left back was more of a priority for defensive cover. A Klavan type buy would not mitigate the loss of Van Dijk.

To be fair, I was saying this in the transfer threads in the summer. It was so obvious that there would be an issue if he suffered a bad injury given the injury histories of Gomez and Matip. It's all well and good having Fabinho as a 4th choice in an emergency, but for a potentially prolonged period of time it becomes a problem. The same thing happened to Man City last season when Fernandinho was moved to CB because Laporte was injured

Thing is with injuries if it's on the player, or a freak accident it doesn't feel as bad, sometimes even a miss timed tackle you take on the chin. That today is horrendous, no matter what the actual injury is, and nothing more. Not one fucking thing will come from it for that little c*nt

Going by the language from the manager it might be a while. Sickening to see a talentless scumbag assaulting someone and then not even being punished for it. Think we could cope as we are so good in every other area but it's not ideal especially as we know Matip will get injured again before 2020 is out.

I usually calm down after an hour or so after a game like that but I'm sorry that assault on Virgil is absolutely disgraceful. You can be guaranteed Duncan Ferguson is instructing Everton players to carry on like that when playing us.

He’s a worse CB than Fabinho

Joke of an opinion that. Fabinho would have to have a larger sample size than 2 games for that opinion to be true. Lovren went because it was the last chance to get good money for a player in the last year of is contract and in his 30's and the player himself wanted to play more and Klopp a lot of the time actually does what's best for the player rather than sometimes what is best for the club. He knew Degsy had a chance of first team football as well as a long term contract in his 30's and did a solid for a very good servant.

Klopp would have loved to have Lovren around for another year because he is a great leader in the dressing room as well as experienced option to start 15-20 games at a pinch. Fucking hell the way Liverpool fans talk about Dejan Lovren like he is a Nicky Tanner level defender bewilders me. After today i would love to still have Degsy as part of the squad but that's just hindsight on my part. Klopp did right by the player and that is why players love him.

Aware that adrenaline can mean players continue playing/walking i.e Lucas when he did his, but he seemed to walk off pretty nonchalantly. A slight positive perhaps, as in my anecdotal experience of injuring my knee, I couldn’t stand for hours.
