As I said before the season started (and got shouted down) and 3 games into the season (and got shouted down) Mane was the wrong one to go.  Salah hasn’t been right for about 15-16 months, he has lost his turn of speed.  At least Mane had work ethic even if he was having a stinker of game.

The contract looks very bad now. We should have sold him this summer and got some money to reinvest.

Sad to see as he is my fav player.

Not seen a tune out of him since Afcon, have no idea what to do with him.

He’s not finished, but maybe change the thread title?  It’s a bit cruel when we can all see what that actually looks like with Haaland ripping it up every week.

Needs to take a good long look at himself. Well below what is expected. Unfortunately he's not the only one.

There was always excitement and expectancy when he received the ball (in the past). I just don't feel that anymore. Still expecting him to flick a switch and come alive in one of these matches but it doesn't seem to be happening

If we sold, fans would've rioted outside Anfield. Unless we got someone equivalent.

That's why you have professionals running the club. There should be no sentiment and a business decision should have been made.

He hasn't that electric burst of acceleration for a while which was always going to be an issue with him as he declines

We rewarded him with a 400k a week contract ladies and gentlemen. Been shite since January but let’s give him a new bumper contract.

Then there were those saying he’s tired and he’ll be a different player this season. He can’t take on his man anymore, barely gets a shot on target and contribute next to nothing defensively. Wait till we hear watch him after the World Cup he’ll be a different player. He looks done at that level and he’s another elephant in the room at the moment.

It’s hard to place what’s going on here as he was pretty below his usual standard second half of last season and as a team, we’ve obviously been in trouble this season with a system that isn’t working.

That said, you can’t help but feel a shade worried that he hasn’t looked like any kind of leader on pitch this season despite getting that contract. I think whatever our solution to current issues are needs to be getting this man on the ball more near the oppositions box.

If the plan was to play him as a winger may as well have sold him and brought a proper one in.

Not in form at the moment. Shame as we need every player we have to get us out of this mess.

Give Elliott his role midweek.

I don't see how that would help, just means less speed and physicality and finishing ability in that position.  Elliott is a more creative passer but that's it.

We need to stop picking players who are not producing and Mo hasn't produced since January.

We're at that point where could Elliott be any worse.

For sure - very very very few people said don't pay him.

Indeed - several said that we would look chumps if we didn't pay him and let him leave for free.

The hope was that the summer would rejuvenate him - the pictures by the pool looked very relaxing!!

He's not dangerous anymore at all. Not getting shots, not beating players, so on so forth.

Seems like the answer to 'who to keep between Salah and Mane' was actually neither. Nobody could have guessed it. Also we should have answered this question two years ago. Ah well.

Play him as a striker alongside Nunez. He's ineffective this far wide these days. Aguero compensated for his physical decline by playing closer to goal. Salah should do the same.

When Mo was at Roma alot of his goals were tap ins, don't get me wrong he scored screamers at times but he isn't close enough to the goal. I always remember a quote by Guardiola or someone close to him (yeah yeah call him what you want) but he was asked how Messi started to score so much and it was simply because Guardiola asked him to play closer to the goal. Mo.is so far from goal what are people expecting...

We really need to re-evaluate how to get the most out of these players right now.

If we're going to persist with this 442, maybe its worth playing Nunez and Salah together up front, with Diaz on the left, and then play Trent at RM with Gomez at RB?

Ohh how football is a fickle sport. Was top scorer last season, came agonisingly close to helping the team reach heights never even seen before by winning the quadruple. Fast forward to this season and a grand total of 10 or so games in, where the entire team barring maybe a couple of the lads have been hugely below par, we have people sticking the knife in. Most likely the same folks that would have rioted if we sold Mo

Hes been well below par since the AFCON and hasn’t looked anywhere near the level he has before. This hasn’t been going since the season started. This has been going on for 10 months now.

In the beginning I thought a certain left back was pretty good in marking him out of the game. After about 30 games, I realize that every left back in this world can mark him off the game. Comparing him with Arsenal’s two wingers is just sad, he looks absolutely useless nowadays.

So has be peaked?

He peaked and is now on the decline.  Yes we should have sold him, but he wasn’t going to leave, so it was either a free next season or a new contract.
