Good player. Confident, creative. Direct. Hope the main England squad keeps its hand off him for a while, because JK could make him one hell of a player.

This could be the start of something special- another one that got away from Chelsea (along with Lukaku and De Bruyne)?

I know this is only an U20 tournament, but Solanke has got something about him, hasn't he?

Well, the U-20 World Cup has always been the stage to promote the stars of the future. Hopefully, it will also be the case with Solanke.

Got to admit Everton have a player in Lookman. He is class!

It always annoys me when I watch games like this. I've never seen Lookman play before, but he's so much better than anyone else on the park it's ridiculous. I know it's only U20s and you can tell it's a big drop-off from PL level, but it is a WC semi-final. How much did the Ev pay for him? 7.5m? Crazy there wasn't more interest.

Och! What a pleasure to see the Liverpool lads doing so well

How about those dipping crosses from Ojo? The Italian defenders had a torrid time guessing the direction of the swerve and dip, causing all sorts of trouble in the box.

I have two left feet. I'm lucky I don't stumble while walking. Dipping (top spin) shots are way, way beyond my existing skillset.  8)

Jeez

Yeah, was a bit. Sorry.

Solanke and Ojo looked good as well. Surprised at the quality of Ojo's crossing with his right peg - although his first assist I would put down as keeper error. Solanke has very good strength and decision-making for this age group, just wish he was a little bit more nimble. Gets in some good positions as well.

They didn't. He let his contract run down and left. We will have to pay a compensation fee, but there was no negotiation between the clubs.

Not especially useful stat of the day:

8 goals in 33 Spain youth appearances for Pacheco

27 goals in 52 England youth appearances for Solanke

Well, considering that players like Dani Alves, Messi, Llorente, Aguero, Lacazette and Pogba have stepped onto the big scene on this tournament in recent years, it is always exciting to watch.

So if we get hit with a transfer ban does Solanke fall between the cracks?

We almost certainly won't get a ban, and he's already signed.

Not seen much of him other than highlights so difficult to judge.

That said, the little I have seen is quite encouraging. He looks better technically than I thought he was. Seems to have good vision and with the ball at his feet as well.

I judge tall strikers by the almost impossible standard of Fernando Torres though. Any striker who's built like him but doesn't have the electric pace he had always disappoints me haha

Lucky we got this deal done before the tournament. Looks like a good modern striker, tall, strong, fast, skillful and greedy when he needs to be. Loved his run and left foot shot. Two players supporting each side, says screw it I just ran 50m with the ball and takes a peach of a shot. Hopefully we get to see him in the first team this season.
