Excellent again - with Matip and Lovren next to him we have one of the most intelligent defences I can remember in a long time

It's like a chaus that suddenly gets orgenized. almost a puzzle piece that clicks into place.
like something was not right before but things changed and suddenly you can point and say: yes. this is IT. THAT.

Reminds me of when Carra played at left back that season. Solid.

God no. So much more to his game than Carra!

He's doing such a great job as a left back, I'm starting to forget how well he can also play in midfield. A left back with intelligent movement and vision, something we haven't seen in that position since Aurelio.

I know Moreno has his issues defensively but I think Klopp is playing Milner at left back simply because he wants a Milner type player in his team. Milner would find it tough to get games in midfield and given that he's a wily old fox with tonnes of experience, a good mentality and a tireless engine I think it's more of a case of wanting Milner in his team, rather than not trusting Moreno completely.

A full season as he's playing and it'll only add to my belief that left footed left backs aren't human and therefore should be avoided at all costs.

The fact that Moreno put in a complete horror show on the first day of the season and has barely featured since suggested otherwise. Regardless of Milner's qualities, when you are a specialist left back and a midfielder is being played out of position in your position your time is up. Milner has been excellent thus far in that position and credit must go to the man himself and Klopp for having the vision to play him there.

I think your are clutching at straws.

I don't think so. I agree with him (partly), think I said it earlier in some thread here too.

I don't agree he's playing him ahead of Moreno to get him in the team, he's playing him ahead of Moreno simply because he's the better option for the team right now. Moreno needed taking out of the firing line. And the problem for Moreno now is that Milner is doing a great job, and looks a far better fit for the team than him.

But I do think Kloppo is very happy with being able to have Milner in the team week in week out, and therefor isn't in as much of a rush as everyone else was to get another left back in. He'll get one in when he finds the right one of course, but for now, this works well - he gets a player he clearly trusts in the team, a player who'd struggle to get games in his more favoured positions these days.

I think your are clutching at straws.

I think he's spot on personally. Milner is a favourite of Klopp and just happens to have the quality and versatility to adapt in that full back position.

Fantastic display from Milner today.  Looked assured on the left side and although didn't really need to track back as much his defensive work was great and his forward link up was even better.  Lovely player and brilliantly deployed by Jurgen.

As good as he's been, really not a LB i was listing to a podcast where they said on average this seaon he's getting beating 2 times a game Clyne is 0.98.(average is around 1/1.5)

But being he is not a LB you can't put too much pressure on him.

I remember when it was being mooted that Rafa was considering signing him from Newcastle. Most people scoffed at the idea. James "puts in a shift" Milner was an oft used phrase on here. A lot of people were turning their noses up at him as another over hyped English youngster

Truth be told, I was one of the ones who scoffed. He's a very good player to be fair. I'm sure most City fans would agree

When Gerrard departed, I feared we might suffer from having a lack of experienced players in the squad. After all, we have the 2nd youngest squad in the league. I'm in no way saying he's as influential as Gerrard in terms of on-field leadership, but he has certainly helped us make the transition. A very valuable presence to have in the team IMO

Let me guess, Anfield Index?

He probably does get beat more but what those agenda pushers don't cop on is that he'll recover and make the tackle, you also can't quantify (unless someone has too much time on their hands) how many times a fullback gets done by a simple one-two (because it's an indirect action), or doesn't track his man ala Moreno (although it's nice to hear Klopp saying he's responding well).

He's done well. He's not perfect there but he's proving dependable thus far, and the bonus is he's a numbers machine further up the field.

Immense lad again,   to all those on RAWK who were whinging when Rafa tried to sign him from Villa all those years ago.   Proper honest, committed player, old school if you like, he suits the Anfield pitch.
He would have fitted in to any of our glorious teams of yesteryear, I genuinely believe that.

When did we sign this Hamez Milnerio lad? THAT dribble!

Just wondering will it be a problem if he keeps going to the bottom right every time he got a pen. Top goalies will study how he takes them for sure, hope he won't get caught out.
