What a lovely, lovely man.

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/james-milner-liverpool-champions-league-16382500

I'm biased of course, but we seem to have a team of lovely blokes, without egos that dwarf their abilities.

What a bloody club.

Thats my hope, that he's treated his body so well, that he'll be able to extend his playing days far beyond his peers.

Can't help but recalling Javier Zanetti who was able to continue playing for Inter well into his late thirties, thanks to how well he treated his body. Zanetti famously, on his wedding day, brought along a pair of trainers, to nip off for a quick run between the ceremony and the reception, you know like you do? On his honeymoon, his wife "accidentally" booked a hotel without a gym, so he did squats with his wife on his back, on the beach of course, it was their honeymoon after all.

Milner seems like he is cut from the same cloth, and although the intensity of a Klopp team may not allow him to continue playing regularly until he's nearly 40, I'm hoping he'll stick around for a few more years at least, and I agree with other posters that he should be given a coaching role. Considering how Klopp has underlined the importance of Milner's communication abilities, I'd imagine that Klopp has already discussed that possibility with him already.

That's an amazing story about Zanetti. Would you have a link to the story by any chance? Can't find it online.

A real Touch of Class - with all that was going on on Sunday, he had time to think about this.  :scarf

That's beautiful.
"If ever a club reflected what made football the biggest sport in the country, it was Liverpool with its ground set in the bosom of the labouring working class being led by a man-of-the-people idealist in Bill Shankly."

Cards on the table time.....

When Milner signed, I was totally underwhelmed. Why do we need another “versatile” sub?

However Milner has far surpassed my targets for him. In fact, when he appears to be struggling, he just works harder and gets better and better.

He’s the only player who I am 100% confident will score from the spot.

If we need somebody to tighten up midfield then he comes on and does the job. He rarely has a poor game and he never looks out of his depth even against the best in the world.

I’m delighted that he was able to get his hands on the CL cup and i’d suggest that he feels perfectly at home here and is doing the job that he was bought for.

Got to love Milly

Cracked me up with his interview with Robertson last night, asked what was the next step after celebrating with Ribena before and he says he might go for something exotic, something fizzy like lime and lemonade :lmao

He's been saying how he sees the numbers on the wall at Melwood and has just been thinking he wants to add to them in his time here, what a way to do it

Love the Zanetti story so I’m hoping Leeds aren’t promoted for a long time. Sorry Marcelo, I do love your football though. Milner is just too good to not have around. It’s been 13 months since he broke the CL assists record and he’s probably the fittest man in football.

He has gone down in Liverpool history now, more so than many others. I am a big fan of Milner, and I think he has a chance to be a great manager one day. Not many as driven as James 'El Burro' Milner.
We have got a lot of good lads and good leaders, but James Milner is one of the best.

Been playing regularly for 17 years now, and still smashing the fitness tests. Reckon he might improve again now we've got all our midfielders ingratiated into their roles, so we can out him on charge when necessary.
