I hope Origi starts at Burnley - he seems the type of player who is happy with a physical game and I think that his skill level is way beyond Burnley.

It will also give Firminho a chance to play from a more creative position, which I think would suit him better.

Yes, I wasn't really trying to compare the two as players, just pointing out that for a forward of that age in that league, getting that kind of goal return is definitely not a "poor season". It's been said hundreds of times what that French "worst team of the year" thing is really all about, don't know why there are people who still quote it like it's some meaningful analysis or well thought out critique. For a lad that age, that's a decent return, and that's all there is to it.

This.

Our Divock is a helluva young striker. Hopefully he's Origidowski.

He's more Thierry Henry than Lewandowski, that is our Origi. If he manages to stay healthy this season, this could be his breakout year.

I really wish, we were allowed to field 12 players at times. Because, I want to play all of them. That shows how good the attacking options have suddenly become.

If Mane doesn't play against Burnley, then I definitively think we need Origi involved. With his work rate and pace, he'll be desperately needed.
Would very much like to see him start anyway, but can understand if not from the start if we've got Mane at least available.

Yup, he prefers 15.

Think Origi will start tomorrow. Got a feeling Klopp is itching to get him into this set-up.

Definitely hope he gets the number 9. It will boost his confidence to a new stratosphere. Not that he needs it either, already looking like nothing can faze him.

It should be earned, the 9. We've handed it out all over the place lately. Origi might be worthy, let's hope he shows that. I think you should only give it to a player who has scored over 20 in a season for us.

Agreed. He should establish himself this season before he gets the No 9. Maybe not 20 goals, but he should definitely score in double figures in the league before he gets the number.

Have to say, out of all the players performances Klopp could have commented on, Origi wouldn't be too high on the list for me. Not quite sure why he made the comments he did. What about Henderson? What about Coutinho? What about Firmino? Sturridge hardly looked like offering much either.

I get it, maybe he is trying to divert the pressure on the lad, but surely he could have done it without singling him out for criticism.

What comments are you talking about? Where Klopp says Origi isn't in a proper rhythm yet? That's hardly criticism. Unless I've missed something else that Jurgen has said I don't see the issue.

Physically, he can make another step. But on the other side, he has no rhythm in the moment, which you can see,” he said.

“Saturday (against Burnley) was clear, we could have played another 20 mins and not scored. He needs to find that rhythm again.

“He is so skilled, but he needs to use them all in the right moment. He is not a very experienced player, he needs to sort all of his skills. He needs to use the right skill in the right moment.

guess that's why he's not starting

Hmm.

I find it strange that Klopp is not starting Origi but will start a clearly unfit Sturridge. And if Origi who has scored a couple of times in preseason is not in rhythm, then are we supposed to believe Sturridge coming back from a injury was "in rhythm".

Also that he needed to say that about Origi, he might have spent a few words on players trying to get into double-digits on pot-shots.

Maybe it's because he thinks Sturridge is more important than Origi? Or perhaps Origi's qualities are not necessarily the ones that could be useful against a deep depending team such as Burnley? Origi came on, and was totally ineffectual. Would he have been more effective with more time on the pitch? Hard to say, but we will never know now. But Sturridge, of the two, has always been more effective playing against deep defending sides. So there's definitely a case for him to start at Burnley.

Sturridge's gotta play sometime in order to get match fitness. Might as well have been Burnley. That we lost to them is besdies the point, as before the match, everyone would have looked at Burnley and said that it was probably the easiest of the five fixtures we have at the start of this season. Origi looked like he needed some match time too, his timing was totally off, turning straight into defenders, poor first touch, etc.

Really needs to get some starts under his belt, he looks a little off the pace at the moment and isn't reaching the heights of last season.  Not easy when you get a few minutes off the bench though.

He's played a total of about 90 minutes in the league this season, most of which has been off the bench away to Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal so it's not really surprising he isn't on full flight.

I'd be starting him ahead of Sturridge though. Think he offers a lot more. He was so unlucky with the header, done everything right, powerful and down in to the ground but just a bloody brilliant save.
