*sigh* probably true. Klopp's comments 'he can head the ball' about sums it up really.

Football isn't a complicated game. Sometimes it isn't bad to have someone excel at something the rest of the team is shite at. Klopp's explanation seems pretty fair and you would think there is some long term planning involved.
"So Bierhoff’s got a short time to press his claims, now that the other two strikers who started the match have both been taken off……Kuntz."

Has Klopp even seen Gomez to know if he likes him?
Dortmund were rumoured to have scouted and shown interest in signing him (along with Arsenal) when we signed him last summer, so presumably Klopp is quite familiar with him. He'll certainly have been told about his quality and shown videos in any case.

Will be interesting to see how he does, his career has skydived, couldn't get into the Southampton or QPR sides and looked awful when we trashed Southampton 6-1.

He has the chance of his life now, so lets hope he takes it with both hands. The least we can expect is 110% effort whenever he comes on.

If you'd have told me at the start of the season that Jurgen Klopp would be throwing Steven Caulker on, for the last five minutes, as a striker...I'd have thought you were delusional. We've become such a bizarre team ;D

Won two headers in a minutes worth of central defending, good start.
AHA!

Would anyone start him v United. We are a fucking liability at set pieces and Martial aside United aren't the quickest. They'll fancy their chances in an aerial battle though.

Beast
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Depends on the fitness of Toure and Sakho I think.

If they're both fit, then I think they'll start.

Yeah definitely.

Not only that but also doubt Toure can play 2 matches in 4 days .He will most likely end up injured as well.

So unless Lovren is fit better to start Sakho and Caulker .

Yes, I'd go with him and Sakho personally.
I would as well. I don't think they will do but if Schweinsteiger doesn't make the game, then Fellaini may well start and Van Gaal may even change it up to have him playing off Rooney. If we want to press high again and try to isolate Smalling on the ball, then we need better protection in the air against the long ball.

False Dolly Parton?

Well clearly, I mean look at the size of them!
Balotelli, Falcao, Cavani...

I'll be shocked if it's anyone other Etoo. Etoo or no-one. Simples.

In fact, I'll do you all a favor and ban myself from the January transfer window forum if we get anyone other than Etoo.

As Peter Drury said during the commentary - "If you'd told Steven Caulker a week ago that he'd be playing centre forward for Liverpool Wednesday night he'd have thought you were mad".

Or on crack!

Quite amusing seeing him run on and head straight up front.

I hope he does well for us when he gets a chance. Never know, he might really impress Jurgen and an offer could go in to QPR in the summer. Hard to see it though.

While his presence on the pitch was minimal I don't think it will do him any harm that he was on when that equaliser went in. He was, essentially, part of the fightback. That might, is some small way, help him to settle in...but as a defender!

Thought Toure played a blinder yesterday; very calm under pressure, which is something we've lacked a bit of. Whilst I like Sakho, his distribution was appalling for long spells last night, which is unlike him. Guess he's still a bit rusty though. Having said that, I'd probably keep that pairing for Sunday if they're both fit; then again, if Caulker trains well the next couple of days, who knows

United are likely to pump balls into Microphone head, I think Caulker would be our best bet to deal with him. Interested to see what Klopp does for this one.

It wasn't "appalling for long spells". He made a couple of dodgy passes into midfield when his options were shut off and where he should have just made the simple pass to the side of him but he made the most passes of anyone else on the pitch and only lost five passes in the whole match, joint least out of all the rest of our starting players.
