To be fair if we'd not had such a shit first half of the season and taken so long to address the defence we'd probably be in contention right now. It's not a stretch to think we'd have at least 7 or 8 more points on the board if we'd had Sturridge fit all season and got our act together quicker. I mean United aren't that far off and they've been mostly shit. This league is clearly not what it's cracked up to be. We're not as far off as you might think but we do have to get a few things right in the summer.
Agreed the standard is pants, but, as I expect now, United get Top 4 they'll throw a shed load more cash at it. Plus Chelsea and City will strengthen. Then to be honest we'll be fighting with Ars and Spuds for 4th, battle for the second and third tier players with potential, coupled with a Europa League cmpaign starting in late July
Long way away for me and sadly that's the way it will stay - Always there or thereabouts for 4th, at a push 3rd.
Even with a fit Sturridge, would we really have been that much closer, not so sure myself
But hey it's all about opinions mate
